“what district?”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

really, despite all the intentions to re-invent the wheel, the thought of this as a "district" is a joke, like shea's and the seven dwarfs... and then they take the rapid-transit stop out? ... how many times can buffalo shoot itself in the food? are we a centipede?

“Exciting and fun district”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Always something to do here. Live theater, movie theater, shopping and dinning and the best part is the renovations; re-opening of Main St. for the first time in over 30 years cars will share the street with the metro rail come Spring 2014. Every building on the block is now cleaned up with new businesses moving in! When in the area, be sure to stop inside the Market Arcade at 617 Main St. (Buffalo's first shopping mall built in 1892) for cool retails such as J. Christian Fashion Boutique, Sasmita Batik Indonesia, Queen City Gallery, Buffalo Visitor Center and CEPA Gallery.

“Great to explore!”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Rating four stars for the theatres - not for much else. There could be more restaurants down here, but it is a nice place to visit. Besides the theatres that were mentioned, there is TGI Fridays and a few other restaurants that are open @ night. There is also the Tralf, which hosts comedy and music shows. That is next to Shea's.

If you're here during the day, there is Sue's NY Deli (same building as Tralf) and the visitor's center (brochures & gift shop) that is across the street from Sheas. Other than that, I agree with Robthorold - you need to go to Chippewa for more to do.

“Where the Thespians hang out !”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

The main attraction here is Shea's on Main Street. It has been renovated over the last couple of years by an army of volunteers. When entering the theater you will be overwhelmed by the feeling of stepping back to another place in time ! This venue attracts all of the popular major tours from around the country. Also in the same block you will find several small theaters featuring all types of shows mostly with local performers. Hopefully the former Studio Arena Theater will soon be finished and added back into the top venues in this area.
