“Always great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

Our party of four recently had a pre-theatre dinner here. The service and food were simply great. Service was well timed. We were not rushed, nor were we waiting an inordinate amount of time in between courses. I love that you can order small or large plates here. We ordered three different salads (Caesar, BLT, and beet) and a consommé with duck confit. All were wonderful. Three of us ordered large plates - a halibut that was a special of the night, Ahi tuna, and duck breast. Our fourth person ordered a small plate - scallops. Everything was delicious!

“Amazing find in buffalo ......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Having stayed in buffalo on business this was by far the best meal that I had..... The steak was tender and cooked just how I like it..... It was served with a wonderful gnocchi salad.... Prior to the meal we had bread and olive dip which was the most amazing taste.....a real find in a town that seems to deep fry everything.....

“Great food....eh service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is a cool little spot in Buffalo. The food was great, the wine was good. The service was disappointing. I know I was flying solo (party of 1) but I would appreciate being asked for a second glass of wine, not having to flag down the bartender to ask for one (did I mention I was sitting at the bar).

Would I come back? If I was in a group, yes I would give it a shot. If I was alone, probably not.

“Started with a Bang, Ended with a Whimper”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

In Buffalo for business for 3 nights (first time in the City). Found this spot with Trip Advisor and Open Table. Made a reservation for 1 (I do this because I don't have any idea if a restaurant is crowded or not if I've never been to it). Got there and it was about 30% "full". Checked in and sat at the bar. Got off to a good start; they had free wi-fi so I logged in and read the news, etc. Nice affordable wine list. Menu looked very interesting. I'm thinking, so many things look good maybe I'll come back tomorrow night. Had a interesting white wine from Greece (don't see that often). Ordered an appetizer and an entree. Everything seemed to be fine. Appetizer (lightly fried calamari and rock shrimp) was excellent. Ok, I'm thinking this is shaping up to be good; probably a 4 star on tonight's TA review. Then things went south. The bartender spent the next hour mumbling and fumbling over orders/transferred checks, etc. and forgot he had customers. (At this point there were only 2 of us eating at the bar so you wouldn't think he was over-worked!). I sat for 20 minutes without being asked if I wanted another glass of wine. Actually I never was asked; I asked for it. The entree arrived; no one offered bread. It was ok (Zucchini Pasta with goat cheese). Sat for another fifteen minutes with an empty plate before it was cleared and was never offered a dessert menu. Checked my email only to find out my opentable reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant -- either an innocent mistake or an attempt to save the couple of bucks they pay for the service. After waiting and waiting for someone to ask if I wanted anything else, I finally just asked for the check and left. The upshot? The owner/chef missed out on at least another $18 (dessert and the assured third glass of wine) that night and a return dinner the next night. (Any a mediocre review on TA. That's the difference between an average restaurant and a very good one -- attention to detail.

“a fine restaurant in a good location”

The restaurant is very convenient to the downtown hotels and to the theatre district. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food exceptional. In a city with several good restaurants, this is one of the best
