If you are in Buffalo and you love good beer you pretty much have to go here. The food is all fantastic and pretty reasonably priced, though perhaps not as ridiculously cheap as some other places. Their take on poutine is delicious if not authentic, Blue Balls are good enough that even a blue cheese hater like myself enjoyed them. I have gotten the short rib sandwich the last couple of times I have been. Beer list is second to none in Buffalo, the next closest contender is their sister bar up the street, Coles.

If you are hoping that this restaurant and bar is the perfect place to watch a game and grab a domestic beer, keep looking. This incredible place is a haven for beer lovers and beer snobs. With over 30 beers on draft and a bottle selection that most 'beerophiles' would die for, Blue Monk will have a beer for you. Their main attraction is their extensive list of high-quality and hard to find Belgian beers, both on draft and bottled. If beer is not your preferred drink, they also have wine and liquor as well with possibly one of the best martinis in the area.

Now, onto the food itself. The food is always fantastic and fresh. Their menu is rather small, but what they don't have in options, they make up for in taste and presentation. Their Blue Monk Burger, Braised Beef Sandwich, and the Prime Rib Beef on Weck is fantastic. Their duck frites (fries) are amazing, and with the wide selection of sauces, you will not have a problem finding one that complements your food.

went for lunch and had the braised beef sandwich..sooo good! came with au jus to dip in, roll was just right, and just the right amount of horseradish sauce and onions. added their duck frites (fancy word for fries) they were pretty good as well, with a variety of aioli sauces to choose from...down side was that the sandwich was $12 then had to add $2 for the fries...pretty pricey lunch, but throughly enjoyed every bit of it!

The only Belgium influenced bar in the B-town and it is one of our favorites.

The beer selection is amazing and yet sneaky. They all taste great but watch yourself because many will creep up on you.

They also have, hands down, the best french fries in the city. Cooked in duck fat and served with some pretty interesting aiolis. The duck fat may sound not all that appetizing but the try the fries...you won't care.

If you're looking to grab a Bud Light or a Coors Light, don't even bother dreaming of heading to the Blue Monk. This is not your average suds bar.

What you will find is an amazing selection of outstanding selection of Beglians, stouts, porters, IPA, and ales.

Blue Monk is also not the place to go if you are looking for your standard bar fare. The duck confit reuben is amazing, as are the duck frites (house cut fries cooked in duck fat) served with a Thai mango sauce.

Yes, be expected to pay more. But you get quality!
