“Great experience”

Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park
Ranked #5 of 163 things to do in Buffalo
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 14, 2013

If you do not have the time to go into the Naval & Military yard, at least take a walk in the park. The surrounding park is beautiful and it attracts all types of activities. There is always something going on. It is well maintained and it adds to the overall experience. However if you can spare the time, touring the inside of the ships & submarine is an amazing experience. They have a great museum with tons of information. When you done stop by Liberty Hound - a great place to enjoy an afternoon sunset.

Didnt have much time to spend, even so worth the $10. Explore navy ships, and take a step back in time. You do go up and down narrow, steep ladders when doing so. I couldn't imagine being at sea for any amount of time on one of these. For the young and old. Overheard 2 kids 8 or 9 ish saying how cool it was

I was in the area of Niagara Falls and decided to check this out for a quick visit. In the end, I spent half a day there touring inside of USS The Sullivans Ship, USS Little Rock Ship (cruiser), and USS Croaker Submarine, along with the museum itself. This was a very cool and an enjoyable experience, especially being in the submarine (first time for me). In fact, I toured the Submarine twice. Glad that I visited this place and even though I did not plan to spend there for half a day, I am glad I did.

The brochure they give you upon admission is great as it is a reference guide to the numbered items on the ship/submarine.

Tip: Their Free parking is across the street in the parking lot; however, make sure to park in the designated museum parking spots (as the rest of the parking lot is for the residence next door).

Great place to learn some history and snoop around decommissioned Navy ships. A very nice tribute to Americas Veterans. The only thing that made me leave was my lack of time to visit. You can spend all day there looking at pictures, displays and reading. If you're in Buffalo and have a few hours to spend I'd recommend stopping by for a visit. They even have a restaurant lounge onsite.
