“A must stop in Buffalo”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Upfront caveat - I was part of the law firm that saved this building. It's a fantastic piece of 19th century architecture, one of the best in the world. And, Hodgson Russ has refurbished and preserved it in the best possible way. I started working in the building in the 1980s. Everyone there loved the environment. Sullivan knew he was building for office workers, and it shows. The Firm also - within the limits of its use as the home of a law firm - has made it accessible to the public. So run don't walk. It's just gorgeous.

“A Sullivan Masterpiece”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

If you like classic architecture, the Guaranty / Prudential Building is a must see. The entire exterior of the building is covered with intricately carved terra cotta, while the lobby is filled with equally intricate wrought iron décor. The security guard kindly allowed us to wander the lobby area and take photographs. It is well worth taking a few minutes to explore.

“Amazing”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

What a gem! I was lucky enough to be allowed to take photos which are usually strictly forbidden since I wasn't part of a tour, just happened in. If you can get a tour, the Law Firm has a very well produced video about the history of the Guaranty building.

“Part of Architectural History”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

The Guaranty/Prudential Building is surely worth a visit while in Buffalo. There are limited touring days due to the fact that the building is a working office complex but even on off days the security guard at the front desk is helpful. We were free to wander in the lobby and the small exhibit that they have set up in a board room. The exterior terracotta is ornate and fascinating. The story of the building and the architect are equally engaging. The best bet for an architecture tour in Buffalo is the Central Railway Terminal.

“Another architectural gem.”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

Another relic from Buffalo's magnificent architectural past. Beautiful facade. Hard to believe that what is now an empty downtown once merited so many first rate buildings.
