“Limited access, but do not miss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2011

You will have to sign in and out with security and you will only be able to see the lobby and elevator area. Security offered me a pamphlet about the building. The building was restored and is in daily use by the law firm, Hodgson Russ LLP, so we tried to be quiet and respectful. Take time to savor all of the intricate details on ceilings, walls, floors, staircases etc. And to think that demolition was being considered at one time for such a significant architectural gem.
The terracotta tile has held up amazingly well and provides some fabulous picture taking opportunities.
(Do also see St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral across the street.)

“Fabulous Sullivan building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2009

This building is a terra cotta dream. The outside is all unglazed terra cotta, decorated as only Louis Sullivan can. The lobby inside has mosaics, wrought ironwork--wonderful. If you're fond of American architecture, you need to come to Buffalo--and you need to see this building (and there lots of other great ones in the city, too).
Take a tour that includes this building, on a weekday when it will be open.
