Thanks to the efforts of the zoo's president, Donna Fernandes, Ph.D. and numerous others, the zoo has undergone numerous construction projects over the past ten years, and it is a wonderful place to spend a day!
Even at ages 12 and 9, my kids still love it!

Highlights: M&T Rainforest Falls (Truly an urban oasis!!) and NOCO Sea Lion Cove

Winter is a great time to visit. Many of the animals are actually MORE active in the winter, and Rainforest Falls is the perfect place to warm up!

The children's part of the museum is super! Very interactive & many hands on for kids under 5 years of age. Every part of it was a great experience.

This is a great small zoo that is part of Buffalo Olmstead Park system. It is relatively small and can be a great afternoon outing. You can bring your own picnic lunch or eat at the Beastro which has basic burgers sandwiches ect... For small children there is a nice playground and dinosaur dig. The zoo is laid out well that takes you on circular path around the zoo. There is a lot of rehab going on as the zoo attempts to modernize so some animals may not be on display. The new rain forest building is very nice and the baby gorilla is adorable. If you are local a zoo pass is a great value because if you kids decide they want to leave or get tired out its no big thing you quickly recoup your investment in a couple of visits The Zoo is heavy on education and has a lot of good information and programs for children so its best to check the calendar for events.

The Buffalo Zoo is a delightful way to spend a day with children. It is well designed, clean and has a variety of activities including a big pit of sand where children can "dig for bones." The food service is not wonderful, but who goes to the zoo to dine? It has a great tropical exhibit and a renovated farm animal area. I love taking my 4 grandchildren to the Buffalo Zoo and it is one of the first places they like to visit again and again.
