“Just GO - it was brilliant!!!”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

A real surprise....the quality and breath of work they have is amazing. Old masterpieces from the most famous global painters of all time through to contemporary work by the biggest international names in modern art.

If you did not know you were in Buffalo you would only expect this level of quality in New York, London or Paris. Just blew us away with the variety.

Also a perfect size: Small enough to walk around the whole gallery and not feel you were missing out on rooms but big enough to cover different genres and host special exhibitions (the Pop Art exhibit was stunning).

We went on a Sunday morning (11am). It was quiet and serene. No queues or crowds. A perfect time.

Lastly - don't miss the sculptures / installations around the outside of the building. Some amazing, memorable, moving pieces in this collections also.

Good for all the family....ENJOY

“Wonderful museum”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We have actually visited the Albright-Knox a number of times, virtually every time we visit Buffalo. It is well laid out, well lit and always interesting.

“Wonderful no matter when you go”

Great experience. We frequently go here with our daughter and other family members. Make sure you go on their website as they have free family night during certain times of the year. Best way to check it out.

“Abstract? Modern? Best place to see”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Disclaimer: We live here. Have visited every year since 1965. Some of the art in the Knox wing is so familiar, we forget the importance it plays in the history of abstract expressionism. Gaugin, Picasso, Matisse, Gorky, Warhol, Johns, Pollock, Clifford Still (that one I still do not understand)
IF you want to see the source of this movement, you must make a visit
The temporary exhibits are what keeps us returning. These are unpredictable; some are fascinating and hold our attention for hours. Some we walk through and exit an hour later asking "What was that about?"
To summarize: If you have never visited and appreciate the historical movement of art, you must visit. If you are familiar with the history and changes, watch the schedule carefully and choose the exhibit that appeals to your tastes
