Shea's is a Buffalo institution and the renovations give it great character. However, the seats are really small, cramped, and the sound acoustics are terrible throughout most of the theater. The staff are wonderful and friendly. It's a real traditional theatre experience but make sure that you opt for the front of the balcony or front rows of orchestra if you actually want to hear the music.

I've been going to this theater since I was a little kid. Its beautiful inside and they do their best to give the local theater crowd their best effort. The shows aren't always great, but that's really not the fault of the hardworking event staff. Located downtown, it's the perfect kick-off to a great night out.

What a jewel to find if you have never been there. Shea’s Performing Arts Center is a National Historic Site! It was designed by architects C.W. and George L. Rapp The interior was designed by Tiffany Studios and has a Neo-Spanish Baroque design and is modeled after a European opera house. Tours are available but you really need to experience theater there.
I love it!

Went for many plays here, most recently Jersey Boys in April 2013. It was the one and only time I will get balcony seats. The sound was distorted and the music was too loud for the dialogue. Patrons in the balcony were talking loudly and on their phones---not sure if this is common or just for this show. I've sat in the orchestra and lower levels before and had a much better experience.

As far as the theatre itself...there is not much to say that hasn't been said. It's a wonderful slice of history that provides world-class entertainment in blue collar Buffalo, a total gem. The staff are kind and helpful and the concessions are reasonable.

I am looking forward to returning for Book of Mormon this month!

No need to go to NYC when you can go to Sheas. The theater is BEAUTIFUL constantly being renovated thanks to patron donations loving this historical site. The shows are top notch theater productions.
The last time I was in NYC I didn't bother going to alot of shows because they were already here or coming soon.
