Been down to Canalside a few times for various events and, no matter what the weather, it's fun! Big events, or just a stroll thru the waterfront and interesting nooks and crannies, I always enjoyed myself.

We were staying downtown and caught the free trolley service, which worked out great. Maybe because it was during the day and not much was going on. The marina area is pretty; many people visiting the naval section. And there is one restaurant on the marina side where we ate. Otherwise, it was totally different than what we expects, so our fault. I think we were expecting a few quaint stores. Probably better in the evening or when events are going on.
We walked a good distance along the waterfront here, past the Warships, submarine and military aircraft and the Naval Park. We were blessed with a good day, but were too early to take a harbour cruise (first sailing at 1230). Nonetheless, very enjoyable.
Time management was an issue for us on this trip but was able to at least drive to this attraction but it was closed by the time we got there so just an outside look for us but was a little disappointed on the looks of the outside for this to be a national monument the outside looked a little run down although if I am ever back in the area I will make time to go inside and check it out
I love going down to Canalside. I usually meet up with former coworkers to hang out for awhile but I've gone with my family before too. The most recent time was when they played Moana. The movie space filled up really quick so plan to arrive about 60-90 minutes before the movie time to get good a good spot. There was bathrooms available and a snack stand. The wait at the snack stand was long, maybe next summer they'll have another one up and running.
Parking as decent too. I found a lot just under the skyway where I just swype my card at the parking meter, input my license plate and it prints out a ticket to put on your dashboard.
There's always events going on, even in winter, so definitely check out their page for info.
We enjoyed every minute of our time here at Canalside. Great outdoor activities and culture. The view is excellent and the place was very clean!
