Owner description: The Martin House Complex (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the complex is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage integrated architectural masterwork. Tours explore the buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.

We visited this FLW property several years ago and went back yesterday. We were astonished at the amount of restoration that has taken place in the last couple of years. A fine example of his prairie style work. We have also been to Robie House in Chicago and the similarities are striking. Glad to see the restoration is continuing. If you really want to see this house, make sure to take the in-depth tour as you get access to much more than the main level of the Martin house. Our docent was wonderful.

This is an example of unique architecture and glasswork with much history. The tour was very worthwhile and as a result I have read several books and visited other of Frank Lloyd Wright works across the country. Frank Lloyd Wright has made incredible contributions to the world of architecture. Visit if you ever have the opportunity!

While still ongoing, the restoration of the Darwin D. Martin House Complex by Frank Lloyd Wright is magnificent. The extent of the restoration is incredible. This is one of the best examples of his prairie style work.

The extended 2 hour tour was amazing. Our guide was incredibly well-informed and the time flew by. Easy to park on nearby streets. After the tour we walked the neighborhood for almost two hours. We will definitely take out-of-town visitors. A trip to Graycliff, the Darwin Martin summer home in Derby, NY would also be worthwhile.

We did the extended tour that lasted 2 hours. Very interesting and informative! They are doing a great job with the restoration given all that they are trying to accomplish. Was nice to see a work in progress. Keep an eye out for small details like the creative gutter work, roof lines and tiles, etc.
