Owner description: The Martin House Complex (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the complex is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage integrated architectural masterwork. Tours explore the buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.

The Martin house is a fine example of Wright's prairie style architecture. The on going restoration has been amazing. Most of the original design has been completed including parts such as the pergola that were removed in the past.

This is really a great architectural example of Buffalo's rich history. If I were a visitor this site and the Darwin Martin summer hime (Greycliff) are not to be missed!

Continual restoration and preservation efforts reveal the excellence of this complex and the brilliance of FLW's design. The orientation film in the modern Visitors Center is very informational, with vintage photographs of the master and his benefactor. Our docent was helpful.

Especially if you're a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, this place is a must-see. The tour guides are great and give a very detailed tour of this historical house. You get to see some of the Wright secrets, like the hidden bookshelf, and come to appreciate his architectural genius. Even if you're not interested in architecture, this place is interesting because it's full of history and beauty.
