“Caters to Tall Drinking Business Men”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

If you want rest and a nice shower this is NOT the place for you! Room was small with 20 foot ceilings. Sinks were so high they had bar stools and came up to my chest. To shower, I had to climb over a really high tub which reached about 3 inches over my thigh. There was no water pressure. The vent vibrated on and off every 5 minutes over and over making an annoying buzzing sound. There was only shampoo, no conditioner and only 1 electrical outlet in bathroom with a television plugged into it for business men who must watch stocks at all times. Room was not cleaned well and a vacuum was not used (bobby pins, crumbs, and hair clumps stuck to husbands bare feet after shower). There is complimentary alcohol in parlor readily available so drinking won't show up on employer's bill. Walls are paper thin and you can hear people in other rooms. Overpriced. Hotel doesn't cater to families or non-alcohol drinking couples wanting romance. Best for single, tall, drinkers. The butler valet driver, turn down cookies, and breakfast selection were excellent in all fairness.

Room Tip: Ask if any have bathroom with blow dryer outlet away from TV, without loud vent vibrations from air...

Over priced! I do not have an issue paying for a nice hotel but this place was not it. The walls are paper thin. The mattress was hard and you could hear the springs each time you moved. The AC was loud and would kick on every 5 min. The bathrooms are dysfunctional, the showers with multi shower heads was a joke. You literally had to keep adjusting the water temperature as you were in the shower or you would get scalded. You could also see that the wall paper pulled away from the wall, guessing from water damage. The "Butlers" were bellboys. Also with four people staying in the room you think they would leave more than three towels! I wasn't impressed with the staff overall, not once were we asked how our stay was after we had checked in. The rooms on the third floor look very industrial and did not fit with the overall aesthetics of what you think the hotel should look like. The only nice part of this hotel is the downstairs lobby. We had friendlier staff, softer beds and better amenities at the Hampton Inn.

Mr. & Mrs. Waterman,
I am so sorry that your stay with us was disappointing. We believe that our service is a defining element of our hotel, and we're sorry that we did not succeed in making you feel more welcome or comfortable expressing these issues during your stay when we would have been able to assist you. I have just sent a personal email to you with a more personal apology, but let me address your comments here as well.
I apologize for the difficulty with your shower. We usually receive great comments about our showers and I'm not sure why you were experiencing difficulty during your stay. I have just inspected your guestroom bathroom and the water is at usual pressure - I can only assume that the individual shower heads might have been turned off or low, and that should have been noticed and adjusted by our housekeeping staff. I wish we would have had the opportunity to inspect it during your stay so we could have resolved the issue. There is no excuse for the limited number of towels in your guestroom. It is our standard to have a larger number of towels for your occupancy and I will review with our staff. Your visit to Buffalo was during a major heat wave and the air conditioning WAS running almost non-stop throughout that entire period - it was necessary, but I'm sorry it was an inconvenience. Our staff, particularly our Butler Team, is a group of service professionals who are responsible for creating very personalized experiences for our guests. They are men and women who work together to provide a host of services and amenities that usually create a distinctly 'Mansion' experience. I'm truly sorry that this was not your experience, and I will continue to explore how we 'fell down' on providing that for you, but I can't agree with your description of these committed individuals. Thank you, again, for sharing your comments. As we stated in the thank-you email you received the day after your stay, we truly appreciate when guests share comments, suggestions or concerns regarding their stay. The additional perspective and information that only you can offer helps to make The Mansion on Delaware Avenue a consistently evolving, exceptionally service-oriented hotel.

We loved our one night stay here and can't wait to come back. The hotel has great style. We loved the honour bar and the pool table. We also thought breakfast was terrific. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful and we loved the shuttle service to the restaurant we dined at that evening. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. I wish we could have stayed longer. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay in Buffalo.

Thank you for your review. We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed so many of the complimentary services and amenities that the hotel provides. The complimentary downtown Range Rover transportation is a perennial favorite of our guests. You'll have to return from Canada for a longer stay next time, and let the Butler Team pamper you a bit while they assist you in creating another wonderful Buffalo experience!

You are so welcome - and thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that the many services and amenities provided by the Butler Team created such a great experience for you. The hotel is a cool mix of an historic, architecturally resplendent building combined with contemporary decor, design and amenities - but it's the Butler Team that creates that uber-cool vibe! You'll have to plan a return visit from Philly to Buffalo....we hope to welcome you back.

Almost felt like Europe, not downtown Buffalo, ny! "Butlers" are actually nice young guys, very personable, nothing stuffy here. A great discount of 20% made it a steal, including open "honor" bar complimentary from 5 to 7pm with 2 drinks per person, and an amazing classic European breakfast that we have never seen anywhere in North America! Obviously Italian-owned. Complimentary Range Rover shuttle anywhere downtown, and just call when you are ready to be picked up! Very classy all the way. Room was long and narrow, small bed (double?) but comfy with lovely linens; all the rooms are unique due to structure of beautiful old building. Amazing bath/shower/whirlpool. Decor, furnishings and decor very hip/art deco. A bargain when you consider all the extras. Would stay again in a second. Better than home, wish we could have spent more of our time there. Also seemingly a great spot for a wedding or special event.

This is such an enjoyable place to stay. There was a rather large group of us who stayed for several days. The large living room areas gave us adequate spaces to gather and relax. Service was attentive but not overly so. Great breakfast buffet, plus the added bonus to be able to order a few a la carte items made it work for all of us. Clean and nicely appointed rooms added to our satisfaction. This boutique hotel is just the right size to provide comfortable and relaxed accomdations.

My wife and I spent a pleasant couple of days here. The staff are helpful, and happy to ferry you anywhere within a radius of a couple of miles. The continental-style breakfasts are very good with a range of fresh fruits and pastries, juices and good coffee. It doesn't have a genuine kitchen of its own, but will provide recommendations for local restaurants. Rooms are fairly spacious, if a little tired looking, as was the bathroom. In short, it isn't really the four or five star facility it was billing itself as (and charging accordingly) by virtue of being located in a once opulent Victorian mansion. The decor is eclectic rather than stylish, the overall experience comfortable rather than luxurious.
