This is a review of the Wooly Wagons next to Custer’s Cottage operated by the same folks at the same location. The wagon is the best value, and most fun surprise, in Medora! It is located within easy walking distance of town. Summer tourism here causes high hotel and camping costs. So this is not only a place to stay at a most reasonable cost, but a unique experience. We stayed in one of the authentic shepherd’s wagons one night, and would have stayed longer but for a tight tour schedule. The proprietor Mary was very accommodating when the plane to Dickinson, ND (the nearest airport to Medora) was late. I would definitely return, and stay longer. Two tips: (1) Don’t miss the two hour scenic badlands loop drive in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and also the tour there of Theodore Roosevelt’s log cabin. The entrance is just down the street. (2) If you are flying in to North Dakota, check the fares to the small Dickinson, ND airport – you may be surprised how competitive it is.More
