“Blast from the past!”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

This hotel was such a nice surprise. I have been a travel agent for many years and have not
booked this hotel before. Thanks to "trip advisor" it has such good ratings I decided to book myself and my family for 2 nights at this hotel. It surprised me that it was so big. It was in a really nice setting in the woods. We had a nice room looking out the back into the woods. We even saw a couple of bunnies under the trees. Missed having an elevator but we managed the stairs with our bags and the room was not far from the parking lot. This was our hotel for 2 nights as we went to the Grand Canyon (Awesome). I had the same feeling as I did when I went to see the Swiss Alps. Just something that has to been seen - no photograph can describe how unbelievably beautiful nature can be. We had a wonderful meal at Red Lobster (not far from the hotel) the first night. Unfortunately we did not eat at the hotel but the restaurant and menu looked very nice. The rooms were very clean and large. A few more comfy chairs would have been nice but they did have a table and chairs to sit at. Furniture was
dated but in good condition and very clean. The next day we headed out to Bearizona - a must see. It has been opened for 3 years now and well worth the drive. It is a wild animal drive through park. Also has a petting zoo and a bird show. It was another highlight to our vacation.
All in all it was a very nice stay in Flagstaff. The beds were comfortable and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: I liked the 2nd floor however there was no elevator. Rooms are large. We upgraded to the rooms wit...

We stayed at this hotel Good Friday, overall impressions were good. The room overlooked the car park which was ok and we had no noise issues. The rooms were very big and clean and tidy, also the bathroom was a fair size too. Furnishings are a little dated but I think this adds to the charm of the hotel, they are not worn or duty, I think they go well with the whole character of the place.
Unfortunately the pool was closed but the hot tub was open and a nice seating area around it was good to sit at. The grounds are really lovely, and the whole hotel is kept really nice. A nice hotel for a stop over....

i would love to say this was a charming, rustic and quaint place to spend a few nights while visiting relatives in flagstaff. unfortunately, i cant. the place desperately needs a renovation. everything is dated.

cons: the furniture, bedding, carpet and fridge all look about 25 yers old. no microwave in the room. the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were super small. shower/tub had very little water pressure. it took a housekeeper 3 different pack and plays ( portable crib for those who don't know) for one to work, even though we called several times to ask that it already be installed in our room before we arrived as we were driving in from los angeles.

there were some pros though: very large room with sitting area. restaurant employees were very friendly and attentive. great walking trail on property and a little playground. and i must admit, it was dead quiet. also, easy drive to grand canyon.

This hotel is exactly as the other reviews explain it. Large but unbelievably outdated. The rooms are huge but look to have been decorated in the 1950's.

On the positive side the room is clean and the bed is comfortable.

Now for the negative. The hallways have a disticintly odd smell. Not quite sure how to describe it! We found the front desk staff to be friendly but quite unhelpful. I called down to ask for a wake up call and was put on hold. The front desk attendant never came back on, so I used my cell phone alarm instead. We also tried to speak to them about a rate deal we were supposed to get thru our hiking group and they were totally clueless.

The restaurant requires its own paragraph. The overall atmosphere is quite nice. Exposed wood beams and the Forrest thru the windows. The food however is atrocious. The kitchen also seems to be continually behind. Our dinner took 1hr to arrive and no one seemed to care or apologize. We ordered an appetizer during happy hour and were old that particular one didn't qualify for the happy hour deal. I guess by ordering wings we were ordering a house speciality :(. On our second night after being at the grand canyon all day we were forced to go back to this restaurant as the hotel has almost no services around it, and we were too exhausted to drive anywhere.

When we return to the Grand Canyon, we certainly will be looking elsewhere for accommodations.

Stayed for one night so can't comment on too much other than the room. Large, spread out hotel with large rooms. WiFi only worked beside hallway door but that may be because I was at the far corner of the property. Convenient location off freeway. No complaints. Would stay here again.

KV & I planned a vacation to Sedona, Grand Canyon & Vegas in 7 days. We flew into Scottsdale, visited friends for the day, then drove to Little America. (The temperature drops as you drive~Flagstaff is much colder!) We stayed in Building 4, which was very quiet since it's the last building. Definitely get a room facing the pool/woods. Rooms and bathrooms are quite large, clean, and very comfortable. As other reviewers have commented, it was a little weird having the fridge in the bathroom, but it was easier to mix drinks without making a mess! Do not eat in the restaurant. We went for breakfast early before the Easter Brunch began, and the scrambled eggs I ordered looked like the dry kind you get out of a big buffet server; the English Muffin was barely toasted, and home fries hard.
This is the perfect location in between Sedona & Grand Canyon. I would stay there again; hopefully in warmer weather!

Room Tip: Buildings 2 or 3 facing the pool seem like good locations. They are not as far from the Lobby as Bui...

We had a wonderful stay here. We booked a room with a preferred view on the 2nd story. Our huge room had views on both sides of the pine forest. The room was really more like a suite. Two vanities, large spa tub, a living room/dining area and room to dance! After a long day of travel, it was delightful to hike a few miles on their trail in the pine forest and get some exercise.
We loved the way it was furnished...classic traditional. All this for just over $100...amazing! We were on a long road trip and we paid more for all of our other hotels and none were as large, inviting and comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for the prefrerred view room on the 2nd floor.
