“Good Hotel in Flagstaff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2011

The Hotel is Hilton Garden inn Standard and appears to be a little outdated. The rooms are clean but a strange smell is notable in the rooms.
The people were very friendly and made me feel comfortable.
The offered breakfast is delicious whereas there is no cook to order service like it is offered in other Hilton Garden Inns.

We had stayed here 5 years ago and were happy with the service and room. We made reservations here for 4 nights and were not disappointed. Our first pleasant surprise was to see the same manager (Bryan) at the desk as was there 5 years before. As before, he was very friendly and helpful and made sure our room was what we expected (it was). The room was clean and comfortable. There was a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker in the room which was very helpful.
The breakfast buffet was very good - offering just about anything you could want for breakfast. Coffee was excellent - hard to find in a hotel restaurant. Our waitress, Maria, was also there when we visited 5 years ago and she is still sweet as ever.
The longevity of the employees and the quality of the rooms and service is a testament to the management of this hotel. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Be specific about your needs.

I stayed in a King room and found it to be comfortable and spacious. The larger sitting area with chair, ottoman and desk is nice. Also nice to have a refrigerator and microwave.

Breakfast was very good for a hotel with this price point. I understand there is an extra fee although it was packaged with my particular room rate special.

I only stayed for one night and it seemed all the children in the world were staying here for a snowboard/ski competition....and they were all in the pool. :) I was expecting a lot of noise, but didn't hear a sound all night, so either there were no kids in rooms near me or the place is insulated pretty well for sound.

Staff at front desk were very professional and efficient.

Lots of restaurants and grocery stores in the area.

Beware that some GPS's will tell you you've arrived after you pass the turn. You actually have to turn at the main intersection and enter from the side road, but my GPS wanted me to turn directly in front of the hotel....where there happens to be no entrance. Not the hotel's fault, but be aware since you may need to turn around.

The front desk, maid, & restaurant service was freindly and helpful. The room was clean a comfortable. The pool refreshing after a day at the grand canyon. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin on the first floor(I could here the tv next door, people in the hallway & the up stairs guests. Every time one of the surrounding rooms flushed a toilet we knew it! I don't expect total quiet at a hotel but it was above the usual level! I was also disappointed that they charge for the breakfast buffet (9.95) this was the first time I stayed at a Hilton garden inn I'm not sure if they all charge for it, if they do the price should be a lot less. I would stay here again but it probably not be my first choice!

This room is average. We found the king sized bed to be unconfortable. The room was large. It was nice to have a frig and microwave. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was above average but it is not included and is about $10 per person. However Cocoa's is right next door, a 2 minute walk.

Dear Carol_Phoenix:

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay. We appreciate you sharing your compliments as well as your disappointments. I want to personally apologize for all your frustrations with our new GSS adjustable beds.

I’m so sorry you didn’t get a good night’s sleep on our Garden Sleep System bed. Were you
aware it is adjustable to your personal setting? We encourage our front desk staff to tell you about the bed dial at check in. I'm sorry this wasn't your experience. The dial is on the side of the bed and adjusts the beds softness and firmness. Next time you stay with us, please ask about it. We think it will be one of the best night’s sleep you’ve ever gotten!

Again, thank you for making the effort to share your thoughts. We appreciate your business and value you as a guest, and I do want you to know that your concerns are our concerns! Please stay with us again soon so that we can demonstrate our commitment to your comfort.

Sincerly:

Breakfast buffet is the best I have ever experienced. Centrally located for Grand Canyon, Sedonia, etc. and easy access to highways. Rooms are OK - not great. Lobby area for sitting away from room is too small. No outside patio. No outside pool! Staff at front desk cheery but incompetent. Room keys ( electronic ) fail. Inside pool about the size of your own living room. Reserved for a week and stayed the week.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on top floor to reduce noise.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on a trip to the Grand Canyon. From the moment we checked in the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home as well as provide information regarding the area and food options. The rooms were typical HGI rooms that were maintained very well. We would definitely stay here again!
