Days Inn & Suites East Flagstaff
Ranked #16 of 66 Hotels in Flagstaff
Reviewed October 4, 2013

We came to Flagstaff to see the Grand Canyon. It was closed due to the government shutdown. We decided to make the best of it and see Flagstaff. The days inn parking lot was FULL on Thursday night. Not easy to park close to our room. The train roared by all night and blew its air horns every 30 min. Even with two laters of windows installed in the room we were awoken by the trains so close by. In the morning we heard doors slamming and construction crews outside. Breakfast was pre-packaged and corporate. A truly corporate hotel experience.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with an odd number, facing north. You might not hear the train all night.

Thank you for taking a moment to rate your stay!

While we do understand the noise issue with the BNSF Railway, this line is a historic railway and we have a city council who loves the noise. We do have some preventative measures in place but sometimes the conductors of the trains like to let everyone know they are coming through town.

Thank you for your understanding and hope you will try one of those odd numbered rooms next tie you come into Flagstaff.

I stayed here for a few days while exploring the sites near flagstaff. The room we clean, free parking wifi and breakfast... Which is a good value. This is the typical Days Inn, comfortable and affordable. I would certainly stay here again.

When we arrived at Days Inn Flagstaff East, the car park was being renovated, and there was no option but to haul our suitcases from the parking areas near the hotel across the road. These areas were not well lit, and we felt uneasy leaving the car in this area out of sight, but had little alternative.

The staff at the desk, while helpful, were immature and giggly. Our room, a twin double, was clean and secure, but the walls seemed to be paper thin, and noises from every side permeated into the room throughout the night. Not only that, be aware that all the hotels along this length of road lie along the railroad, and the wayside horn sounds on regular intervals 24 hours a day. The beds were fairly comfortable, although the pillows were very hard. Myself and my partner had a terrible nights sleep at the Days Inn. The bathroom was very small.

Breakfast was self-selection buffet style, and included in the price of the room. The selection was ok, but the quality was basic. The bakery items seemed to be the best, but the waffles were tasteless and the juices too sweet. The coffee was good, with decaffinated options available.

The Days Inn was close to Flagstaff, but access to the actual hotel was quite difficult off the main road in front of the hotel. It is ideal for a stopover before heading off to the Grand Canyon. We found our stay in Flagstaff to be disappointing and frustrating, especially with the level of noise in the hotel, and the unprofessional attitude of staff. We hope that we had simply caught this hotel on a bad day, as it seems as if other people had better experiences than us.

Quavering:

Our staff has seen this review and understand they need to maintain their professionalism every time, every shift. We have a great group of team members who are very close friends and almost family and sometimes, are very excited to see each other and help our guests with a lot of excitement.

I will personally make sure your review is brought up at our team meeting and we will redirect some of that giddy excitement into other areas you mentioned.

We are very appreciative of all of the comments as this helps us grow as a facility. Thank you for that! I do believe you are right when you say you caught us on a bad day. :)
