“Broken Promises”
Reviewed June 9, 2008

The hotel was mediocre compared to other Embassy Suites. We arrived at 4:30 PM and the room was not ready. The front desk promised us a $10,00 credit but, after returning to the front desk 3 times were told that,"because we booked it on line and it was prepaid, the accountant would have to issue the credit in a few days" After 3 voice mails with no return call from the accountant I, reluctantly write this blog.

We're a family with 2 young children. We reserved a 2 bedroom suite which is really 1 bedroom with living room with a sofa bed. We were told all rooms have been renovated. The one we got was nicely decorated with comfortable beds and pillows, quiet A/C unit, clean tiled bathroom with granite tops. However, the sofa bed mattress was horrible. We complained about it the next day and the hotel immediately put us in a 3 bedroom suite so we didn't need to use the sofa bed.

The made-to-order breakfast was delicious! So many selections available. The Mon-Fri Manager's Reception aka open bar was another treat after a long day of sightseeing around town.

The pool was not heated but my daughter liked the pool anywa. The jacuzzi was hot. The pool towels felt like big kitchen rags. Bring your room towels to the pool area instead.

The hotel is near many restaurants and across the street from Bun Huggers and Himalayan Grill which both had good food! Barnes and Noble bookstore is also across the street. There's a Target store a few blocks away.

Overall, my daughter thought the hotel was great!

Hard to believe this is an ES. Check-in was fine, but the hallway was the first bad sign. It felt more like a bargain hotel than an ES. The "suite" was so bad that we immediately checked out. I reserved a king size bed and got 2 full size beds. Everything in the room was horribly out of date and built very poorly. Everything, including the toilet, was crooked. The room smelled musty. You can get a much better deal in Flagstaff for 2/3 of the price. Stay away - this will taint your opinion of ES forever.

We have stayed at E.S. hotels all over the country and found them to be reliably high quality, so this one caught us by surprise.

Check in went OK, but we were tipped off by the hallway to our room, which was littered with pieces of packing peanuts and confetti. These stayed on for the entire 48 hrs. of our stay. The "Executive" room was more like a regular room for anothyer E.S. hotel: unimpressive size, small TV's, etc. Most troublesome were the BEDS, which were absolutely horrible: hard underneath you, but saggy at the same time. Toilet seats were cheapo cheesy plastic that's just tacky in this price range.

he following morning we requested to be relocated to another room that had been more recently renovated (5 years ago), and it was just as bad, only smaller! I'd recommend you save $50 bucks and go tho the Hampton Inn across town.

We stayed at this hotel over a sold out Easter weekend. The room was depicted much larger on the internet. We stayed in a 2 room suite and we were sadly disappointed at it's size when we arrived. We could not get the a/c to work so had to open the windows. Not a big deal because it was so nice outside, but felt leary about leaving the windows open while we were out. The bathroom door would not close properly and the stopper in the sink would not stay "open" so we had to prop in up with a pen so it wouldn't fill up the sink. The GOOD part was to cooked to order breakfast. Their morning chef was WON-DER-FUL... I was in awe at the precision and speed of that person! Great food. Had noisy neghbors but after all it was a Holiday Weekend and they were sold out, so there was no where they could have moved us to. In short, not worth the extra money for the larger room, but they made up for it in service!

We had the Executive Suit and it was very big. The Breakfast was made to order and very "yummy". The first floor looked like they were doing some remodeling and our bathroom door didn't shut very good. Other then that it, we got what we have paid for. They have every evening a "Managers Reception" which helps you relax or bond whith other travelers. We got there couple hours after a snowstorm and they had the fireplace going. It was very cozy. The area is great.

We were shocked when we walked into our two room suite...which really seemed like one average hotel room split between two rooms. We normally stay at Embassy suites and I have never been in one that had such tiny rooms. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff was friendly. But if you are paying the extra money for the extra room space..don't bother. We will never stay there again.
