“Noisy and understaffed”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We asked for a quiet room in out reservation and were given a room right neat the ice dispenser that we heard off and on through out the night. Also, we had a first floor room and we could hear the people above us for 2 hours before we asked to be switched to a upper floor room. The people above us sounded like they might have been dancing or jumping. This was after 11pm. When we went to complain to the front desk, we found no one at the front desk and another gentleman was waiting to talk to someone also because he couldn't get his television to work. The front desk was abandoned for over 40 minutes before he returned. There is only one person in the evening to take care of 75 rooms! There is hardly any insulation between the walls and the floors of the rooms. Very cheaply built.

My husband and I stayed only 1 night on August 29. I know this Best Western has been around for a long time but you would never know it. The room was clean, fresh and bright. We had a suite which had 2 full bathrooms. The bed was not as comfy as what we have at home but it wasn't horrible. I do suggest you take advantage of the breakfast as early as you can or you may be left with slim pickings. The staff was super! They do not have elevators. All in all, a good quality place in a magnificant location.

Room was large, though no central air, just wall mounted ac/heater which is not adequate for the room size! Room temp was hot, and took 3 hours to cool down enough to sleep! Good breakfast setup, impressed.

We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. This was our 3rd stay at Pony Soldier Inn & Suites in Flagstaff. Our check-in was easy (thanks Beverly!), the staff was attentive & friendly and the room was clean. The breakfast, which is served between 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. was very good and included cereal, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, waffles, juice, coffee, etc. The dining room is pretty large with overflow seating outside by pool. We had a bottom floor room toward the back of the hotel and did not hear the train. This was the first time we have heard walking/ running in the room above us, but the family quieted down by 10 p.m. so it was not a big deal. The pool is heated and enclosed and has a jacuzzi. Towels are available in the pool area. During rush hour traffic ingress and egress can be difficult.

The check staff was not very friendly or helpful. We got there during the monsoon season (The front desk person told me). Water had flooded one entry way and they were cleaning it up. The access to our room was small and the room was very small for the price we paid. The rooms are very close together and you can hear people slamming doors when they leave their rooms.

We asked for a room with one queen bed and instead were given a room with two queen beds. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.

Overall, we found this hotel overpriced and uncomfortable. Not a good place to stay.

Room Tip: ask for room without dogs next door to you

We love staying here. The rooms are great and the beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a free continental breakfast. There is a pool that is enclosed and also a sauna. Recommend it to anyone.

Our experience at BEST WESTERN Pony Soldier Inn & Suites was poor.
Very noisy in the raining night and because of it's close to the train crossing.
The breackfast was better than other Best Wester we tried.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms far from the street and from the train crossing.
