Best Western Pony Soldier Inn & Suites
Ranked #10 of 65 Hotels in Flagstaff
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. This was our 3rd stay at Pony Soldier Inn & Suites in Flagstaff. Our check-in was easy (thanks Beverly!), the staff was attentive & friendly and the room was clean. The breakfast, which is served between 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. was very good and included cereal, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, waffles, juice, coffee, etc. The dining room is pretty large with overflow seating outside by pool. We had a bottom floor room toward the back of the hotel and did not hear the train. This was the first time we have heard walking/ running in the room above us, but the family quieted down by 10 p.m. so it was not a big deal. The pool is heated and enclosed and has a jacuzzi. Towels are available in the pool area. During rush hour traffic ingress and egress can be difficult.

The check staff was not very friendly or helpful. We got there during the monsoon season (The front desk person told me). Water had flooded one entry way and they were cleaning it up. The access to our room was small and the room was very small for the price we paid. The rooms are very close together and you can hear people slamming doors when they leave their rooms.

We asked for a room with one queen bed and instead were given a room with two queen beds. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.

Overall, we found this hotel overpriced and uncomfortable. Not a good place to stay.

Room Tip: ask for room without dogs next door to you

We love staying here. The rooms are great and the beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a free continental breakfast. There is a pool that is enclosed and also a sauna. Recommend it to anyone.

Our experience at BEST WESTERN Pony Soldier Inn & Suites was poor.
Very noisy in the raining night and because of it's close to the train crossing.
The breackfast was better than other Best Wester we tried.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms far from the street and from the train crossing.

There are several Best Western hotels in this city, however, I loved the location of this one, near the mountains, away from the Center of the City, easy access to the freeway. Well maintained, good breakfast, I wanted to stay longer but I had to continue my trip.

The hotel was excellent, however Best Western did not credit me with any points for my four night stay. The staff was very helpful, particularly on the day of checkout. The dining room was closed three days out of four, so that was a matter of some inconvenience.

It's not the prettiest hotel from the outside but it had everything we wanted; clean, quiet, good sized room. Not a hotel for spending the day but perfect to use as a base for day trips to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Downtown Flagstaff is also worth a visit. Good breakfast, lots of choices and a large dining area. Good value and lots of guests which is always a good sign. Would definitely go back.
