Not the usual visitor centre experience. Arrived late on Friday afternoon, not greeted with the usual "How can we help you" but " We close in 10 minutes". Staff clearly wanted to get home rather than help visitors from England. Things got worse when they locked my eight year old daughter in the restroom. I would advise visiting early if at all!

Thank you for your review. Although your experience was not a positive one, please know that this is not a typical experience for Flagstaff Visitor Center staff to provide our visitors.
When staff began to pull the roll-down gate at 5:00 it must have been of great concern to you, knowing your daughter was in the restroom, located in the hallway on the Amtrak (still open) side of the gate.
However, in fairness to the review process I would like to clarify that she was never locked in the restroom. The gate leading to the hallway where the restrooms are located was being drawn down to half way at which time you indicated to staff she was in there.
Each day at 5 to 10 minutes before closing, VC staff must politely announce that we close at 5:00 so any purchases can be made and staff can answer questions/provide help before closing. After speaking with staff about this unfortunate incident and getting details, they stated that your family was indeed greeted and asked if you would like any help, but your request was to just look around.
Again, your review is appreciated, so staff can consider this a learning experience to continue refining their skills of providing excellence in customer service: VC staff will now ask visitors before closing if there is anyone currently utilizing the restrooms before the gate is drawn down.

The perfect visitors centre. A beautiful railway station building, containing everything train buffs and shopaholics love. A lovely Fl
agstaff souvenir store and a separate Route 66 souvenir store. Excellent helpful staff.

Flagstaff's visitor center is an appendage of the railroad station on the highway into town. Parking is easy, and the staff helpful and knowledgeable. They sell a lot of Flagstaff souvenirs, much of it junk. We visited the train station, a time-warped room and could envision setting off from there to Chicago, LA and New York. Except the trains leave at inhuman hours--past 10 pm and before 7 am.

The Visitor Center has all the required brochures, etc for local attractions, but it wasn't until I spoke with Jay at the desk that I really understood what to see and where to go (and park). The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the area. With maps and a highlighter, I had several days activities planned. Plenty to see and do - and plenty more to come back for.

I appreciated that there were also souvenirs available for sale - including authentic Native American jewelry and artistry.

Thank you so much for the review. We appreciate the mention by name of any staff person who has performed their job well; we all love seeing our names associated with a 'kudos'! Hope your entire visit was positively memorable and look forward to seeing you again.
