“Wonderful as always!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We first discovered The England House on our honeymoon, and have been back many times to celebrate anniversaries. Richard and Laurel have always been very accommodating and sweet. They have become friends, and we look forward to seeing them often. The attention to detail, and the knowledge make us feel so comfortable and welcome. The building is beautiful, the breakfast is superb, and the hosts make the experience fantastic. I would highly recommend staying at The England House. It is well worth the money every time!

Our stay at the England House was fantastic. It was our first B&B so we were a bit apprehensive about what we "thought" it may be like. Well we were wrong!

Richard and Laurel are nothing but friendly and helpful. Meticulously clean everything. From the tightest bed sheet to the kitchen we ate.

(Crappy wifi that Richard was welcomed to share he has done the best he could with what service company that is available. This would not take from our review.)

Room Tip: I would choose the Stone cutter next time just for the fireplace, couch, size and view. But my new t...

Richard and Laurel are fantastic! We went for 2 nights for our first anniversary and it was perfect. Very romantic, great company, beautiful house. If you like perfectly restored homes this is for you. The breakfasts are very good and it's fun to visit with everyone. The kitchen kind of turns into a common room where everyone just has fun. They also really are a few minutes walk from downtown. We walked in to the downtown for our lunches and dinners (all places recommended by Richard and Laurel). It was a quick walk and good food. Definitely listen to their restaurant suggestions. We definitely hope to go back!

Room Tip: Call and ask about room sizes. They are good at matching a room (they are all different) to what you...

This place was great. We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed the room and the atmosphere in the whole building. Each decoration and furniture piece was specially selected to create a historic and vintage atmosphere. It is only a 10 minute walk to downtown which is very convenient and there is parking available if you have a vehicle. Richard and Laurel (owners and hosts) were friendly and knowledgable and helped us choose activities and book dinner reservations. The room was very comfortable and unlike some of the other review comments, the trains did not bother us at all. They created fantastic vegetarian creations for our breakfasts, just let them know ahead of time if you have a special requirement so they have time to plan. Recommend and will return!

My husband and I stayed when Richard was by himself, and he was so put together considering he was flying solo.

The check-in process was very detailed... even more detailed than I would have preferred... but I suppose you need to cater to the lowest common denominator. I mean, I know better than to sleep on the decorative pillow shams and get my mascara everywhere, but not everyone has manners. And really, there aren't that many young married couples that have been in as many B&Bs as we have. So that's really not a big deal at all.

You can tell Richard really loves his job. He had a lot of info to share and many recommendations to make.

The mattress in the Stone Cutter room was beyond unbelievable. We just melted into it. It was the best night of sleep I've ever had.

I really like that they provided beer as well as wine in the afternoon.

We were just on our way to the Grand Canyon, but it worked out very well. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here as an home base for visiting the GC... I prefer staying at the park in the South Rim... but as a stop along the route I highly reccommned The England House. The drive Richard suggested was very pretty and interesting also.

We stayed there the weekend after christmas and had the most incredible time. We felt at home from the second that we walked in, and the innkeeper and his wife (Laurel and Richard) were amazing. The rooms were all beautiful and SO clean, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The song catcher has such an amazing bed, we slept so good!!!!!
