This is not a negative review. Just an acknowledgement that a restaurant at this price point, and with comparatively few competitors in town - could be more innovative. This is a "date" restaurant. Small, quaint. Lots of small tables. The menu covers a wide range of tastes. And the wine list is reasonable ( not ridiculously loaded with >$50 vanity bottles) . Wife and I ordered simple entrees, and they were both competently prepared and served professionally. But, left feeling like there should have been an opportunity to have something special - a signature side dish. Specialty bread. Something that I could put on this reveiw to make them remarkable

We were driving through Flagstaff on our way from Grand Canyon to Phoenix. Didn’t know anything about this restaurant before, just walked in.
The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Looks quintessentially old American restaurant - which we soon found - it is. There was a sign on the wall telling of its historical value.
The food was delicious. My wife is vegetarian and unfortunately rarely gets any good vegetarian meals in restaurants. Josephine’s was a great exception by being excellent. Her food was imaginative and delicious. So was mine.
This was a great experience and enjoyable meal in a very nice atmosphere.

We were visiting Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon for several days. Tired of pub food and breweries in town. Checked out Josephine's on our last night and it was such a treat. Had a cozy table by the fire in this intimate restaurant with excellent service. The osso bucco and crabcakes were wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed our lovely evening at Josephine's. We recommend it highly!

Our first night in Flagstaff we went to Josephine's for dinner. This turned out to be an excellent choice. It is housed in an old-Flagstaff home, so the guests are distributed among several rooms. There were only five tables in our area. The staff, from greeting, seating, and serving, were very friendly (but not too much so), attentive (but not hovering about), and helpful (although not much help was needed). The menu is eclectic. We decided early on that a repeat visit would be in order, as there were several "must have" options. Chris had medallions, and I had their special of the night, lamb chops. Both were served with their own special sauce, and crisp vegetables. The desserts? We "had saved room"..... Our two choices were awesome, Chris' peach cobbler, and my bourbon, chocolate, and pecan pie. Tasty? Rich? Oh My!
