Ate supper and breakfast at this place and we were happy that we did. Railroad mo-tiff. Model train runs around the perimeter of the dining room on a high shelf. Extensive family style menu.
My wife ordered the stuffed cabbage and I had the liver. My wife's meal was excellent. Honest to God home-made mashed potatoes. The stuffed cabbages were just like Mom used to make. Kayla our waitress and daughter of the owner was friendly and attentive to our needs. Our only complaint was that the vegetables were of the frozen variety but I guess it's hard to get fresh produce in Arizona in January. My liver dinner was a bit overcooked (a word to the chef would probably have solved this problem) but flavorful and the bacon was excellent. Fresh baked rolls come with the meal as well as a small mountain of whipped butter. The cream of broccoli soup was the best we had ever tasted. We had cherry pie for desert. Not made on the premises but good nonetheless.
We came back for breakfast the next morning. Monster-sized buckwheat pancakes (two of these pancakes should be enough for any normal human). Vicky, our waitress, kept the hot coffee coming and advised us on a couple of travel questions. Very, very accommodating staff.
We would go back to this place any time. Plan on $15 for a dinner and $10 for breakfast.
