“The charm of downtown Flag”

The charm of the downtown area is really a draw. There are lots of options for eating, from coffee and a snack to full meals. It is fun to walk around and look in all the shops. There is a first Friday art walk, a downtown park which often has art shows or music. Flagstaff has about 100 trains daily and the train station also provides tourist information. If you are an outdoors person there are shops that specialize in outdoor gear.

There are so many wonderful things to walk and see in this quaint town that one should just park it and walk for hours and eat and enjoy all Flagstaff has to offer, you'll be surprised at what you find.

Had a walk round the town and went for lunch at Attitude Bar and grill. Sat and wathched the long trains, kids counted 122 containers long on one train. Great fun and great history.

There are numerous shops and restaurants to explore in the historic downtown area of Flagstaff. We visited on a Friday night and it was fun to walk around the square. It took a while to find parking but that was really the only set-back. When we returned on Sunday evening, we discovered that most of the shops were closed, so take that into consideration.

You can't beat a college town with great weather for a destination. The area up and down San Francisco and Beaver Streets, on both sides of the tracks are a mix of students, old hippies, weekend yuppy puppies from Scottsdale and wannabe mountaineers. Lots of nice stores to satisfy your love of the unusual from a terrific couple of metaphysical places, to outdoor haven Babbit's and the Patagonia shop. Best nighttime dining is at Charlie's at the Weatherford Hotel. Do not pass through Flagstaff without spening some time in the old downtown. A train watcher's delight with as many as 4-8 BNSF trains going through every hour. Check out the Flagstaff Brewery for a glass of Lodgepole light.
