“Quaint, historic, but sleep downtown”

Kind of a sleepy historic downtown, but there are various shops and such (you'll find a good number of outdoor shops that sell various gear and clothing). The railroad station makes for a great artistic photograph (unfortunately I could not snap one). We've eaten at a couple of places including the Flagstaff Brewing Company and Collin's Irish Pub on separate visits.

Some of the eateries can be happening places when there are sporting events to watch on tv, or I imagine holiday occasions; but most of the times we've gone it's been sort of low key. Fine for us since a half-day visit to Flagstaff is usually preceded by a strenuous Oak Creek Canyon hike.

We always like to visit downtown (historic) Flagstaff as it adds a little nostalgia to our trip, especially if the weather is crisp and cozy.

This is a small downtown area (3 or 4 blocks by maybe 10 blocks). Still interesting and historic, worth walking through for the architecture. A few blocks out and you see what residences are like in the area (a little depressed, nothing too scary though). Definitely worth checking out the area, some cool funky shops too.

The visitor centre drew us into this area of town but it was a nice couple of hours browsing the shops and seeing the history of Flagstaff.

We stopped at the old train station. I thought for the gift shop but no my driver had other ideas. The train station is a bus stop now and the gift shop was nice but the real fun was sitting on a bench outside and waiting for the train to roar by us. He said they go by every 15 minutes. He was right! I think he researched a bit online before we got there.
