Owner description: Built in 1904 for two Riordan families, Riordan Mansion is an impressive reminder of gracious living in a small, territorial logging town. The historic building is an Arizona treasure — a remarkable example of Arts and Crafts style architecture featuring a rustic exterior of log-slab siding, volcanic stone arches, and hand-split wooden shingles. The expansive home has forty rooms, over 13,000 square-feet of living area, and servants' quarters. The Riordan residence was designed by the creator of Grand Canyon's El Tovar Hotel, Charles Whittlesey.

Reservations not a must but recommended. Tours are limited to 15 people at a time. We toured with three others couples, guide is quite knowledgeable and small group sizes allows for asking plenty of questions about the site. Great for history buffs.

We were really interested in learning the history behind this Mansion/Museum. We knew nothing of the Riordan family, even tho we are originally from Chicago, where they are from as well. It was interesting to see how both sides of this home mirrored each other, even tho lived in by two different families. The main lounge used by both families was so cozy and warm. We spent over an hour inside the house with our guide and he had lots of information to share with our tour. Reasonably priced and very informative.

Excellent guided tour by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. Provides excellent background for your understanding of the Flagstaff area. Fam-friendly and easy to access the site. My 83 year old Dad has been numerous times. They provide little collapsible stools for patrons to take on tour if they need to sit. Good for my Dad ...didn't have to stand for the whole tour.

We enjoyed the tour of this interesting home and would recommend it. It is a home that is a happy place to tour - not like some historical homes.

Not to be missed. Flagstaff was more than just a "getaway" for cooler climes. It supported early lumber, mining, and railroad industry - with a large employment base for early Europeans. Irish and German immigrants developed the town and the education system. A must see for a look at the life of settlers to the Arizona northern territory.
