“You have to go!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Went there with the family for an early breakfast, got there just before they got too busy. They have very good food and have huge portions. The food has a southwest flair comes with beans and rice. I got the ham omlet with green chili so so good. This place gets packed so be prepared to wait or just get there early. The place is for sure a Flagstaff establishment and it is where the locals go.

“HUGE portions in a convenient location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

*Awesome fresh squeezed juice
*Cool decor
*Huge portions

*Server was less than attentive, forgot my side, then NEVER came back to check and see if we needed anything else (?). Seemed to be avoiding any eye contact so we could ask for anything if we needed it.
*Need a key for the bathroom and it didn't seem very clean.

“Don't look in the kitchen windows after hours, you might not like what you see.....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Went for lunch with a few friends.... Couldn't believe how busy it was.... The food was mediocre...the service was iffy...and overall it was just ok...but when I walked past the restaurant after hours on my way to my car I saw something quite disturbing.... A cooler was left open with barely covered food, there was a bottle of degreaser sitting practically ontop of a water bucket with "fresh" herbs in it, an open coca cola bottle, and a backet of strawberries all just left on a counter in full view. Never mind the rest of the kitchen needed a deep clean....

“Good food made with love”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

I lived in Flagstaff for nearly a dozen years and never managed to get into MartAnne's during all my time here due to the small space the restaurant previously occupied. Recently moved away and lo and behold, they've upgraded to a new space around the corner, much larger and easier to get into. Came out for a visit and decided to have some breakfast around 9 a.m. on a Monday morning. Walked right in and we were told (2 people) to grab any table we liked. Several were available.
Menu is reproduced hand-written copy with lots of cute notes and hearts, clearly the labor of love of the owner, Anne Martinez. She has penned the restaurant's history on the back of the menu for perusing and it made the visit even more special.
And when the food arrived? We knew we were being presented with something good. Everything was prepared just as we ordered it, and huge! The 2 egg plate includes rice, beans, hashbrowns (more crispy than not, just the way I like them) and a tortilla. Salsa was brought to the table for adding, if needed, but I found everything to be quite flavorful. The OJ was proclaimed to be fresh-squeezed and it sure appeared to be so. Very happy with my meal, but I certainly couldn't finish it.
From what I read on the back of the menu, this is a family-run operation. The decor is south-of-the-border El Dia de los Muertos by an artist friend and the atmosphere is upbeat and friendly with a mix of colorful Mexican wood with 50's diner tables with vinyl-covered chairs. I liked it.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This establishment does not take credit cards, so come with cash. 2 breakfast plates with tip ran about $26.

“Great Food , Long Wait when Busy!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

Best time to go is very early or one hour before closing, other wise be prepared to wait. Annie could sure use some some help in the kitchen when it is busy. the wait staff could be friendlier too!! I love the new place, but the waitstaff has an attitude. I've been going there for Nine years, the servings are huge, Piping hot, (almost too hot), love the Borracho style beans. Great expansion on the new menu. THE BEST POSOLE ANYWHERE ANYTIME!!!! The Chile Verde is to die for! IT IS ALL VERY GOOD. Bring a book or a news paper
