My family booked the Jeep tour to the bottom of the canyon. First off, very expensive, over $1000. The company picked us up at about 7:30 AM drove an hour, the driver forgot passengers, had to backtrack the hour to get them (total of 3 hours in a van). Then another 2 hour van ride to Grand Canyon Caverns. Not very interesting, kind of a waste of time and in the middle of nowhere. The tour then went to another location (another hour in van) to board the Jeeps. The ride was long, but very interesting to the bottom of the canyon. Then for the climatic end of the trek down, a 100 yard strip of beach along the Colorado River. Porta Potties, a bad sandwhich and some rock throwing before the long drive back up.
Owner of the company was a total jerk. Tried to get some compensation for the drivers error (3 hours delayed) and the owner was agressive and very belligerent. Would NOT recomend this company.

we did 2 tours, the "inner Canyon" and the "Grand canyon Ultimate". We were picked up in Flagstaff. The Grand Canyon tour was fine, as represeneted, good for us without a car, and unable to hike. Our guide was knowledgable & likable. We got to see about all the highlights of the south rim GC, from the Imax, the Indian site, museum, tower, views, and finished off with the Helicopter over the canyon. That was SUPER. Most all of this you can do on your own, if you have car, get info from the Park website, use their shuttle, and individually schedule the Heli. BUT if you are on a time budget, i would highly recommend such a tour, and these folks treated us well, we felt well informed and satisfied with the one very full day. The "Inner canyon" tour goes into western end of GC to the river, thru Havasupai reservation. So,you as individual could not be doing that. It was pleasant, interesting flora/fauna info, fun jeep, intersting views, tho not stupendous as from the South rim. Enjoyed the break at the river. We couldve skipped the "G.C. Cqverns and the long rides necessary from Flagstaff. Nicer if you took it from Williams. Lunch was not worth much. Staff were great.

We wanted to get to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and look up at those beautiful canyon walls. It was not even close.

The trip took 12 hours.

We were picked up from Tusayan for a 1 hour van ride to Willams. That's right, an 8-seat VAN ride. Next was a 1.5 hour bus ride to the only access road that the leads to the bottom of the canyon. This was not a luxury bus, more like an airport shuttle bus. So, a total of 2.5 hours to get to the access road.

We stopped along the way to visit the Grand Canyon Caverns. I suppose this would be good for the kids, but not very stimulating for adults.

At the access road, we boarded the open air jeep. No complaints, this is what we were expecting.

The access road is EIGHTEEN miles long and made of gravel. Took about an hour to get to the bottom. The bottom meant an 100 yard stretch of beach alongside the Colorodo River. The river is not very impressive and is actually surrounded by a gorge. So you CANNOT see the canyon walls. There is NO VIEW of the Grand Canyon. Very disappointed.

Lunch was provided. Low grade turkey sandwich, chips, and an apple.

So, for me, the only reason to take this tour is to say that you made it to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

For me, not worth the $500 (for my wife an I) and the 12 hours.

My family of three was on that same tour with the family of four that day.We were in the jeep in front. All said and well we throughly enjoyed the entire tour. Our guide Scott was very informative, pointing out wildlife, rock formations, yes some were given names by the tour guides,no problems. We also liked hearing about the geology of the Canyon and the history of the various people who hid out there from the law,and the Native Americans that roamed there, the hanging tree that the law used to hang criminals back when, the man who built the hotel done in the area that was washed out during a flood, the Mormoms that also tried to settle there. All fun and well. Our guide took his time and talked alot on the way down.On his way back he didn't talk much but I assumed like the rest of us he was tired and had already pointed out most of what he needed too.
Dust is part of a jeep tour,so is hair blowing(which happened) no problems we so enyoed this tour and have already told others. One thing guys the bread used for our sandwiches was a tad stale. We so enjoyed our tour.Thank-you so much !

We paid over $1000 for our family to take a jeep tour to see the Colorado river on the floor of the Grand Canyon. For that type of money we expected a professional tour with a professional guide. Most of the company representatives were pleasant and professional. Our guide was not. It was kind of like being asked to ride along on an all male hunting trip. The guide cracked a number of jokes of a sexual nature... not appropriate period... less so with two young girls (9 and 12) along. He made no attempt to be "in character". Just said whatever was on his mind. The guide had clearly been into the canyon numerous times but was not at all an expert on the history, plant life, geology, etc. He pointed out several rock formations that he had named... got old after awhile. On the way back up from the canyon he insisted on getting close to the jeep in front of us resulting in a needlessly dusty and unpleasant ride for our family. All of that said, the scenery was fantastic and this is the only tour company that makes this trip. Ask for Scott or Robert and you'll be fine.
