“Can't Go Wrong”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

An easy to find place to stay in Flagstaff. Nice rooms, nice lobby, friendly staff. Stay here. You can't go wrong. It's what you'd expect but it's quite nice - especially for an in-and-out escape to the desert sights.

We stayed for 2 nights in order to explore the Grand Canyon and the Flagstaff area. The hotel is well located for travelers coming off of I-17 or I-40.

We had no problems with the hotel at all. Our room 313 was in excellent shape and clean. The staff was friendly and answered a few local questions cheerfully. We didn't try the the breakfast so no comment there. The public areas were spacious and we enjoyed the fire pit outside in the evening. The only negative we experienced was people would let their doors slam when leaving the room and if it was near you it was quite loud.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: The third floor has nobody above you and might be a bit more quiet as a result.

The property is very nice looking from the outside and inside as well. The lobby area is welcoming and open. The front desk person was excellent.

However, the most single important item to me in a hotel is the bed... and the bed in Room 211 was hard as a rock and one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever "tried" to sleep on. My wife and I both had a terrible night's sleep. I spend about 80 nights a year in hotels and this mattress was ridiculous. I don't necessarily mind paying $200 per night for a room in a tertiary market area over Memorial Weekend, but in exchange I do expect the bed to be comfortable.

And to not include complementary breakfast for their "Elites" is way off market as well.

As a Marriott Gold member, I expect a comfortable bed and complementary breakfast... which is perhaps why I am a Platinum Hyatt & Hilton member instead and spend 90+% of my business hotel nights at their properties.

But the deal breaker as to why I will not stay at this specific property again is due to the ridiculously uncomfortable bed.

Thank you for your review on your stay over Memorial Day Weekend. We are displeased that you did not prefer the bed in your guest room. The beds that are in the hotel are the Courtyard brand standard and we are looking into ways to make them softer for our guests that prefer a less firm mattress. In regards to breakfast Marriott standards in the Courtyard brand do not give complimentary breakfasts to our Marriott Rewards members, this includes Silver, Gold & Elite status. We have taken your comments into consideration and have submitted your feedback to the Courtyard brand. We are pleased to hear that our front desk associate took good care of you during the busy holiday weekend.

My reservation was credit-card guaranteed at a discounted rate, yet they said my room was 'cancelled' when I arrived. The gentleman went ahead and put me into another room, and charged FULL PRICE! I noticed on my credit card statement I was charged TWICE. When I questioned the double charge, they said that I had two rooms reserved. Housekeepers banged doors constantly in the morning and lied to us saying it was other customers banging their 'wardrobes' upstairs.

Room Tip: Don't expect to sleep late in the morning as housekeeping will wake you up by latching the other...

Hotel was great on all fronts. Room was spacious and new. Lobby was open and vibrant and the couryard area wth fireplace was comfortable. Pool and fitness areas were also well done. Breakfast buffet was good even though we did have to pay for it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Very nice, clean, modern hotel with friendly staff. Large nice lobby - terrific central courtyard with gas firepit. Across street from grocery store, walmart, hamburger/custard joint and just a couple of blocks from the well-reviewed cocco's restaurant.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms have balconies. Note that there is a fair amount of road noise for these rooms, how...

We stayed there on both ends of 6 day Grand Canyon rafting and hiking adventure. The hotel is outstanding. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, nice outdoor courtyard, nice lobby and bar.

Very nice, southwestern-style architecture added to the atmosphere.
