Wupatki is my very favorite ruin in the state. You get to walk down into it where thousands of people lived, played, traded. There are rangers who will give you info and a guide book which means more pleasure, in my view, when you understand what you're looking at. There is an obvious meeting circle and a fascinating "blow hole" where a cool strong breeze either flows out or in-dependent on the barometric pressure (or something like that), A good guide will allow you to enter a room or two then explain what you are in. GUIDES are absolutely essential in my view, (as an Arizona resident) if you want to get the most out of your trips. I've been all over the southwest alone, not really beginning to appreciate what I was looking at before doing the guide thing. If you are in the Flagstaff area, Wupatki is just off the I-40 a few miles. Sunset Crater, it's adjoining park, is a take it or leave it destination. Not much to see.
