“Great Small Museum with Focus on American Indian Heritage”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

This museum explains a lot about the American Indians that lived in this area, and still live in Arizona. The displays are very well done. They include pottery, jewelry, baskets, rugs, and weavings. There is also one room that has a kiva. This is the only museum that I have seen a Kiva on display inside.

The museum is a beautiful stone structure nestled among many pine trees. The employees are very friendly and helpful.

At the time we visited they were working on a renovation, so it will be even a better museum.

There are also two good gift shops.

“Finally, a place that puts all the Native American groups in understandable order.”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

With Grand Canyon closed with the shutdown and a rainy snowy day we chose to visit this gem of a museum. The building is under renovation but it was not an issue except maybe for parking. Displays covered both general overview and much, much detail. Gift shops were interesting and hold some beautiful pieces of art in rugs, pottery and jewelry.

The adorable little museum is sited in many journals, is a lovely stone structure in the pines. The exhibits are truly interesting and the museum shop one of the very best places to buy indian artifacts, pottery, baskets, jewelry and rugs.

“Interesting”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Despite the museum having building work done, it's well laid out with lots of interesting exhibits about the area and the peoples, and with lots of lovely jewellery and books for sale. Got a bit lost in a maze of corridors due to the work going on but came to a great art gallery. Really enjoyed going round it and the staff are very friendly and informative.
