“A good effort, but fails on several fronts.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2010

We heard nothing but good reports from locals about this place. As soon as we walked in the door, we were shocked at how horribly loud the place was. No attention to that detail at all. The servers were kind and attentive, but the clientele were the most obnoxious I have ever encountered in a higher caliber restaurant. We found a cozy table in the back (that we had to adjust ourselves to keep our drinks from dumping onto the floor). The salads were decent, an iceberg wedge for me and mixed green for my wife. Underwhelming for the whopping $8 a piece. Our entrees were well presented and tasty. My swordfish cut was excellent, but the corn/vegetable mix was incredibly over salted. My wife's filet mignon was cooked perfectly, but contained quite a bit of gristle and fat. Vegetables were also very over salted and quite underwhelming for the $28 they wanted for the dish.
Overall, it came across to me like a high end southern cooking sensibility trying very hard to appear more that it is more. The prices are actually ridiculous for what you get... they should be charging half that amount at most. Add in the ridiculous acoustics, sub-par atmoshphere and obnoxious drunk clientele and the end result is not worth revisiting.

“As good as it gets”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2009

What a great little place. The food is fabulous. If you are going for an "all you can eat" of ordinary food experience you'll be disappointed. The food is , however, fabulous and perfectly prepared. The chef visits guests at the table to see for himself it the meal is good. Sadly they stopped serving the more affordable Sunday brunch when they opened their second restaurant. Now it is for dinner only. It is a little expensive for eating there routinely-but well worth it when you can! I like it because the menu changes with the seasons. Also you feel comfortable because the atmosphere is casual!

“5 senses is your place for excellent dining in Murfreesboro.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2009

5 senses offers terrific food in an restrained atmosphere. Service is always good. The wait staff cares that you enjoy meal. Fresh faire with organic and always fresh produce it is a delight. Sibling-owners are available to the guests and often stop to say hello. It is not a special occasion in my family if we arent going to the 5 senses. And we have to drive from Franklin!!! Ask about their soups. Made from scratch and always a good call if you want a light meal! In 50 experiences there I have NEVER been disappointed. Good Job, guys! Love your wine tastings, too.

“Fine Dining with the Inlaws”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2009

5 Senses have a nice open atmosphere, attentive staff and owner who visits all tables. The food is very good especially the scallops. The deserts are good and wine selection is above average for most restaurants.
