“You can do better”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Gondolier is an old shoney's restaurant that has Italian, Greek, and American food. They should choose one and try and do it well. We got a pizza on a recomendation. The pizza was so greasy it was turning orange while still hot. The dessert was good, but overpriced at 7.99 for a piece of cake. I would go elsewhere.

“terrible food”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

I had eaten at a Gondolier in East TN so we gave them a try and were sadly disappointed. Probably some of the worst food I have ever had.

“Mmmmmmmmm dessert!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We weren't too sure what to expect but stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. The moment you walk through the door, you see it - right there - a GIANT dessert case. You're drawn to it like a magnet. Every kind of cake and cheesecake you can imagine. Right then and there, we decided we would save room for dessert. The waitress was fast to wait on us and brought some great breadsticks and marinara. Quite a nice bread basket for free - truly. We had a calzone and shrimp scampi. Both were delicious. The calzone seemed a little small but once I got into it, it was packed with filling and really good. We STILL wanted dessert but there was no space for it. But, we couldn't let it go - so we got dessert to go for a late dinner. :) We chose a cake called The 7 Deadly Sins (7 layers of chocolate cake with different types of chocolate icing in between) and a Chocolate Tart (which was 2-layer chocolate cake, dipped in chocolate, with beatiful chocolate pieces decorating the top and a thick fudge/caramel layer in between). Both were wonderful. The food is great. The dessert is wonderful. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because the service from the kitchen (getting the food to the table) was incredibly slow. If you are not in a hurry (which we weren't), then it's a great place to go. If you are in a hurry, call in your order and get it to go - but definitely don't skip the dessert!

“Good Italian restaurant, great desserts!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

Tonight was my first time at Gondolier. The breadsticks were ok and the dipping sauce served with them were ok...reminded me of Ragu. But after that the meal was great! My husband had the house calzone and it was very good. And I had chicken Florentine cannelonis which were fantastic! The best part of the meal was the Milky Way cake we had for dessert! The service was very friendly and attentive. For an Italian restaurant in an old Shoney's building it was a much better experience than I expected. I will go back!

“First visit”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

I have reviewed the Gondolier in Glasgow,KY and wanted to provide input about our visit to the Murfreesboro location, looks like an old Shoneys building but after walking in and seeing the huge dessert displays it was clear that this was indeed a Gondolier. As always the breadsticks are bought to the table, we were not impressed at all at the tomato sauce that was served with the bread., it looked and tasted more like a tomato soup then it did marinara. The sauce had a orange tint to it rather then red and it tasted a tad sweet for tomato sauce. We had Mozzerella sticks which were served with the same sauce, they were average in our books. The side salad was crisp and fresh. We ordered House Strombolis with ex cheese, both were alot smaller then the ones we had in Kentucky but were suprising packed with lots of the goodies, the fillings were very good, sauteed onions, mushrooms were very good. All in all this was good food, 2 people with drinks came to $32.00 and we both left full and we would be back (with our own marinara for dipping lol)
