Wear comfortable shoes, and if it's been wet, nothing you want to get muddy. The path is paved all around (3.5 miles I believe the whole circle), but... Getting from the Hemlock parking lot to the main walkway, you have to go down a sloped dirt path.

Also, to address a couple of the negative comments, YES, no wheels! You don't have to worry about being run over by bicycles or rollerbladers. That's a GOOD thing. If you want to ride, go elsewhere. And it is a long way around with no shortcuts. If you can't make it, go a quarter way and turn around. There's no rule you have to go one way. One thing that remains a negative is the lack of sanitary facilities, so go before you go.

They also don't want you to feed the geese. It disrupts their natural migrations. Plus, feeding them means you'll have to sidestep the little green goose turds that will be everywhere.

I started walking lake Scranton with my best friend and now enjoy bringing my son for walks there as well. They do an excellent job maintaining the walking path year round. It can be slightly tricky for parents with small children to get strollers easily down the main path but it can be done....I have taken both a jogging stroller and non-jogging stroller down the path (and back up). My son loves to stop at the Gazebo to see the ducks....Each time we go we notice something new in the natural surroundings and the walk is truly refreshing.

I've been walking Lake Scranton for 35+ years. It's an wonderful place to take friends, family, children, etc. It's a clean, smooth, 3.5 mile loop where you can observe lovely water, trees, and wildlife. There's always something new to see wherever you go. It's a great place to take photographs. If you are having a family reunion, this would make for a beautiful backdrop. I've never been there when it wasn't packed with walkers and runners.

A word of warning, there are some restrictions you need to follow. No dogs or other animal visitors. No bikes, skates, skateboards, or other modes of transportation.

We've fed the squirrels, chipmunks, fish, and birds before, but I'm not sure if that's allowed.

This is a wonderful natural place of beauty, to witness birds, ducks, deer, fish and other natural creatures. This place gives the refreshment and peace that only nature can give. It has a paved road, with no traffic, to walk, run or merely stroll.
