“LOCK YOUR CAR AND HIDE VALUABLES”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

My husband and I used to walk Lake Scranton every Sunday. It was a nice, leisurely walk, incline changes, breeze off the water. Apparently criminals have decided the seclusion is also good for no-good. There were a rash of car break-ins and that caused us to stop going there. I am not sure how much things have changed , maybe there is a better police presence now but I am not willing to take a chance.

“A gem for runners and walkers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

Lake Scranton is the city's water supply. A beautiful, paved, 3.57 mile wide trail surrounds it. In the summer much of it is cool because it is mostly shade. There are rolling but gentle hills which make it interesting and a good training path. Other pedestrians are usually friendly. A great place to jog, run, walk.

No bikes, skateboards, animals, alcohol, and other stuff are permitted.

Access is a bit mixed. General parking is adequate but does require you to traverse a few hundred feet of steepish and sometimes rough wooded terrain...not for the feeble or handicapped. Handicap access is available at one away from the general parking lots, with parking for a few cars.

“3+ miles with water view & no cars”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Paved trail all the way around Lake Scranton, up and down hill a fair amount. 3.5 miles around. Parking fairly inconvenient to the trail, down a rocky path, and no restrooms at all. Even port-o-johns would be better than nothing. Otherwise we were delighted by the experience.

Great for walking or jogging. Was a little cold during our last walk around the lake in March, but very enjoyable.

“Heaven in NEPA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

There are not many more delightful places to walk in the country, let alone NEPA. Folks are friendly, the scenery is wonderful and it's very well kept.
