Hotel is at a convenient location off Rt.81. Many restaurants around. Clean and well appointed rooms and a small lobby. Breakfast was better than we expected. Did not have room cleaning service for one day out of the 4 days we stayed. No exercise room but could use one at Residence Inn next door. Staff is friendly. The floor and the wall construction appears to lack quality, walking and talking guests can be heard inside the room.

We have stayed here many times, and will continue to stay here in the future. The rooms are large and always impeccably clean. The beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows. The staff is friendly, greeting everyone on their way in and out. There is always hot coffee in the lobby, and sometimes there are cookies or candy. The breakfast selection is good, but the breakfast room is very small and always crowded. We usually gather up some food and take it back to our room to eat because the breakfast room is just too cramped. There are plenty of restaurants and stores close by, and the hotel is right off the interstate, so it's pretty easy to get to.

This was the most infuriating experience...we booked our reservation several days in advance, secured with a credit card.

The night of arrival, I called the hotel at 10:30pm to tell them we would be there around 2:00am. Tom at the front desk confirmed he would hold the room.

We arrived around 1:00am with our 3-yr-old twins groggy from a long, late night drive. And they tell us they sold our room! And that they secured a room 1 exit south at the Sleep Inn. By the way, we just came from the south.

Incredulously, we packed everyone back in the car and headed south 1 exit. We had a terrific experience at the Sleep Inn.

I called the Fairfield Inn General Manager a few days later to share the horrible experience I had with her hotel. Her response was, "I'm sorry for the obvious inconvenience. It's our policy to 'walk' no-shows so we don't turn people away if we have a room".

I politely explained *again* that we were not a no-show and that I am confident it is unusual for no-shows to call a couple hours ahead of time to let you know when to expect them. At that point she became rude and unprofessional. She offered no empathy for a difficult situation and only had policy and more policy to respond with (policy that clearly didn't apply to our circumstance).

At this point I decided we would never again stay at this hotel. If the General Manager cannot be kind and understanding over the phone to a customer I don't want to give them my business. I calmly informed her that our experience at the Sleep Inn was exceptional and that from here out we would be staying there.

She said nothing and hung up the phone.

A good rest after getting there from Europe...big and clean rooms, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Also, close to many restaurants and shops.

A nice hotel, just like most other Marriott Courtyard type hotels. There is a Marriott Courtyard just adjacent in fact. The hotels are right next to a large shopping mall with many chain restaurants nearby as well. Downtown Scranton is about 5-10 minutes away on an expressway. Despite being close to the mall and highways the room was very quiet. The hotel has a small indoor pool. Room was clean; bed was good; air conditioner worked. The only negative was a bit of a musty or smoky smell that my wife noticed. I'm not sure if it was a non smoking room we were given, but there were no ashtrays, so I assume it probably was supposed to be non smoking.

Breakfast is included. Breakfast is in a small room off the lobby; not really a buffet, just a collection of some rolls and muffins, yogurt, cereal and Jimmy Dean egg sandwiches that can be microwaved. Adequate, but not what you'd want to eat every day.
