Little boys love trains, but this attraction has very little information except for pictures to view on the walls in the lobby, some locomotives, and a short train ride.

We have gone to Steamtown many times. First when if first moved here many years ago. My children were very young. Now my son takes his kids, I know a few of the staff, the experience is great. At this time of year they run a "Santa Train" My grandkids love it. In the fall and summer they have great train trips that are only a few hours long and make stops. Well worth the price of admission. Children love it. Only word of advice, bundle up. For groups call ahead for discount rates they are run at certain times. Don't skip the museum. It is very interesting. It gets better every year.

We only live a short distance from Steamtown National Historic Site so we love to visit often! I love that it is an attraction that is affordable for a family outing (The kids were free and I believe adults were $7.00). They also host a few events throughout the year such as a fee free weekend and Trolley Rides with Santa (This is through the Trolley museum). We went on the Trolley ride with Santa last year and loved it!!

We took our children and explored the museum and had a great time. The children loved looking at all of the trains and they really enjoyed the train ride!

Although the train ride was really short, it would be nice for those who have never been on a train. Unlike me, I (happily) grew up riding them. DO NOT miss the ENTIRE museum. There is SO much more than initially meets the eye. Go upstairs, go thru all the doors you can on all the sides you can, go outside and walk around. Fascinating. See all you can and then walk over to the Electric Trolley Station & Museum. Plan on spending all day between both places. Only thing is there is no place to get anything to eat other than vending machines - at least at this time of year. 10/19
