WSJ said Starwood/Sheraton has been giving Marriott increased competition because of Heavenly Bed. Marriott responded with own new beds and renovations. Marriott Springfield has been renovated and is beautiful. Beds extremely comfortable, carpets are thick, the place looks great.

This hotel was a little disappointing, especially compared to the other Marriotts we have stayed at. The elevator broke when my kids were on it, the room service was cold, and the room was noisy. On the plus side, the hotel was nicely decorated and the staff was fairly pleasant. Next time I'm in Springfield, I won't be staying at the Marriott.

If you are going to an event at the Eastern States Exposition, this hotel is perfectly situated just across a small bridge from the road leading to the exp - about 2 miles. However, our room faced the river and the highway which runs along the river, right below our room. All night, the traffic and horns kept us awake. I spoke to the front desk about the noise, and they apologized, but there was nothing they could do, since the hotel was full. I like Marriott, but they are usually expensive, and this one was no exception (the parking was expensive, too, and getting in and out on the same day required a voucher system, which was an annoyance) When I pay this much for a room, I don't expect the kind of traffic noise we got - this was as bad as a motel right on the off-ramp of a major highway. The rooms were lovely, the staff courteous, but we won't stay here again. Perhaps if you can get a room facing away from the road this won't be a problem.

My company has provided its employees with rooms at this shining star in the Marriott chain since 1998. I can promise you: it is truly a privilege to stay at this property!

I am a fairly frequent guest here, and the front desk staff always remembers me and warmly welcomes me back. The hotel is lovingly maintained, and the staff members are uniformly polite and attentive. (If you ever share an elevator ride with an employee -- be they a manager or a security representative -- you will always be greeted and asked if your visit is a good one!) The rooms are cozy, always clean, and remarkably quiet, even though half of them face an interstate highway (albeit with a lovely view of the Connecticut River). The restaurant, although pricey, offers outstanding fare in a quiet atmosphere (try the honey walnut salmon!). The sports bar is a popular, noisy place in the late evenings.

The hotel is connected to a small, down-on-its luck shopping mall. There, you will find a fine deli on the ground floor as well as a food court that bustles with office workers during the weekday lunch hour. A nearby German restaurant is a must-visit Springfield institution. The front desk staff will be happy to show you the way on a free map.

I highly recommend a stay at the Springfield Marriott... even if your business or leaf-viewing takes you to the Hartford, Northhampton, or Amherst areas. It's worth the drive!
