On Sunday evening we made another trip to one of our favorite places. Our family has been going to Joy of the Wok for many years now. Although business has slowed down for them, as with almost every restaurant, those in the area who want great Cantonese food know to go to Joy of the Wok.
The soups are the best in the area, especially the Eight Treasure Bean Curd soup. It's loaded with shrimp, tofu & many other goodies. It was great again and my wife enjoyed the hot & sour soup, says it's the best around. The shrimp fried rice was great as always, lots of flavor. We also tried the fried dumplings, plump & moist. For the main course we shared beef & scallions and the sizzling triple delight, a great dish with sea scallops/beef steak & sliced pork. Although we didn't have any this time, one thing you have to try is the Joy of the Wok chicken. Nice chunks of white meat chicken, fried, in a sweet sauce-great dish. Focusing on Cantonese dishes, one thing they don't have are egg rolls. They do have spring rolls but I find them a little greasy. We've pretty much tried everything on the menu, high quality all around, not like most of the Chinese food in the area-which can be pretty bad. The manager is a guy named Frank, great sense of humor and very friendly. Although the wait staff has been cut due to lack of customers, the ones left are super. They're knowledgable about the food and offer great service. We'll continue to go there as a couple, family and with our friends.
