Casa is a great restaurant run by some great people! They have a special on Tuesdays (Taco Tuesday), buy 1 get 1 taco! The only suggestion for improvement would be the quality of the chips that come in the chips with salsa. There drinks are very good as well, Great Margaritas!

I moved here from Texas and have been in near withdrawal of SW cuisine since. Casa de Nana does a respectable job of of emulating Tex-Mex.Their refried beans are more like a casserole than beans and the guacamole missed the mark entirely, as it was like a frozen paste that tasted like the bagged stuff you get in the freezer case at the grocery store. Otherwise the dishes were good, and their salsa and hot sauce were not only served separately (as it should be), but were clearly homemade and had good flavor.
The service was efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was casual and in keeping with the theme.
They would not be able to compete down South, where Mexican food is a staple, but in this wasteland of pizza and grinders, Casa De Nana is a welcome sight.

Maybe I'm biased because I live in the area and have been going to this restaurant in its many incarnations (all the way back to the original Pepe Tacos!) but I believe the food here is exceptional. If you want a tasteful, bland atmosphere pay top dollar and go to the chain - if you want delicious food, excellent value, and great service wander by here and you won't be disappointed. I never am.

At first glance driving by this place I probably would have never stopped to try it especially because of the empty parking lot both times we've went and it looks a little run down from the outside. However, I read good things about it so we decided to give it a try. The dining room doesn't have the best atmosphere and it can get cold if sitting by the window, which might be the one tiny downfall at this place. They serve complimentary chips and salsa when you sit down and it's $1 for a refill afterwards. The menu is large and there's good selection. The prices are great for the amount of food you get--the portions are huge! The fajitas came out on a sizzling cast iron skillet and side of sour cream and guacamole. We tried the combination dinner as well with a taco, half burrito, and a relleno. The relleno was AMAZING..it was a tender red pepper stuffed with pepper jack cheese and fried to gooey perfection. The burrito was a ok but nothing to write home about and the taco was, well, a taco but has one up on taco bell because you can tell it's homemade. The corn muffin side is A MUST!! You must try it! The sweet potato fries were a bit too soggy for my taste, I prefer them thicker and crispier. Also the creamed spinach side is delicious! You will not leave hungry and if you can fit dessert I would recommend either the fried ice cream or the brownie, or both! The brownie is a huge chocolate walnut brownie surrounded by thick hot fudge with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, tons of whipped cream and sprinkled sugar. The fried ice cream has been my favorite fried ice cream I've had by far, they don't actually fry the ice cream itself, it's more like a fried shell that holds a scoop of sweet vanilla ice cream with hot fudge, whipped cream, and sugar on top. Overrall this place is definitely somewhere we would return, I would even go just to have the corn muffin, relleno, and dessert. If you want some good Mexican food in the Springfield area definitely drop by here and give it a try.

We are big Mexican food fans. Springfield, in spite of the fact that it's largely a Hispanic community now, doesn't have a whole lot of decent Mexican restaurants. Casa De Nana is true mexican fare, in a very casual and inexpensive setting. If this restaurant was in Houston they probably couldn't survive the fierce competition in the Mexican food market, but up here, they are a stand-out gem. Good place to meet after work for drinks and nachos, or bring the kids and let em' get messy. Tuesday it's cheap taco night, my record is six. Outdoor seating (smoker's seating) during the warmer months.
