The menu offers a variety of dishes - - - four of us ordered different meals and all were more than satisfied. Portions and presentation were excellent and waitperson was very professional. We highly recommend Max's in Springfield. Make a reservation because it is very popular.

In town for business. Limited options. Walked a few desolate blocks to Max's. Large and comfortable place; friendly service (bordering on the intrusive). Pasta, crabcakes, fish were okay but nothing to shout about. Entrees (in Springfield!) pushing $30 - surely not a bargain.

I have rarely been so shocked by the prices of a restaurant. $20.00 for a French dip. $18.00 for meatloaf. Are you kidding Me$ The only reason I did not flee was I was hungry and springfield ( a town foreign to me ) is a cesspool.

Dinner with friends turned into a unpleasant experience. Food was over cooked. We asked if we could substitute veggies at no extra charge, our waitress said yes and on the bill was an additional $6.00 for the substitute. When asked about it she said she must have been misunderstood by the kitchen. Told us about a special they were having and told us there would only be an additional charge of $8.00 from what was on the menu. This meant the dinner would be $48.00. When we were leaving, we were asked by the hostess, how was everything, we said not good and she never acknowledged our comment. It will be our last visit.

I don't typically eat fish and have never ordered it but came here for a business dinner and was intrigued by one of the chef specials...monkfish served with homemade gnocchi (I was really sold by the gnocchi). The meal started with fresh hot bread and whipped butter. The fish was very tasty and cooked to perfection and the gnocchi did not disappoint. Everyone else was equally happy with their selections and the waitress knew her stuff and served us well.
