“Ignore the neighboorhood and eat here!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Found theodore's here on TripAdvisor...NOT DISAPPOINTED! We followed the suggestion of other reviewer's who said not to be deterred by the outside and the downtown neighborhood and give it a try and we did. The atmosphere was fun, nostalgic and even historical. The food was OMG, so good. We ordered the burnt ends as an appetizer, excellent! This place seriously serves huge portions, so be prepared. If you cannot take home a doggie bag, be mindful when you order unless you are starving!! Our party ordered ribs and the brisket. May I just say best brisket EVER...try all the BBQ sauce options, they're all good. We even ventured to try the collard greens, which were to our surprise quite good but somewhat over peppered for our tastes. We agree with other reviewer's that the waffle fries are the best you will have ever eaten as well. Eat here and you will leave happy, full and wanting to go back again!

“Best Ribs! ”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

Ribs were delicious and pulled pork was fabulous. Fun atmosphere! Very kid friendly, offering a child's menu and serving popcorn before your meal. We would definitely go back!

“The True Meat to Bone Ratio: Righteous Sweet Salty Smoky Ribs!”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

At home or most restaurants, the main problem with spareribs is the "True Meat to Bone Ratio." You grab a good looking rib, take a big bite, and find you actually have very little to chew on.....a bit like eating good popcorn, one bite is never quite enough ....you think you need to have another bite just like the last one right away, in order to fully grasp the full flavor of the first......a tested pathway to addictive overeating and, at the end, a sickly full feeling.
Well get ready for Theodore's incredible ribs !. Whether you are from the Carolinas or Connecticut, Natchez or New York City, Maine or Mobile, you will find the first bite of Theodore's bbq spareribs as toothsome, deliciously good, and completely satisfying as the last. How do they do it? Well, to some extent here there may be real, punishable-by-death-if-shared magic involved here. For another, Theodore's somehow manages to buy the most incredibly meaty spareribs I have ever seen and trim them perfectly, so much so that only the tiniest bits might be rejected as cartilage or silverskin.
With the possible exception of sliced beef brisket (this ain't Texas), any bbq you order here is likely to meet and/or exceed your expectations, from wonderful whole beef ribs, to baby back and St Louis pork ribs. (We didn't try the chicken.) Our favorites were the burnt beef ends as an appetizer and the St Louis pork ribs as the main. 3 different extra bbq sauces are served at each table, and the Mains come with a variety of choices; there are others, but we found the collard greens (spicy) and baked beans especially good, the cole slaw very good, but the cornbread too sweet.
Throughout the meal the service was very friendly, accomodating, and super efficient. The blues music was just starting when we finished. It was just rightas we shared a visually dazzling, pretty good (but again too sweet) Key Lime Pie wedge for dessert and thought about our next visit.

“Amazing Ribs and Live Music”
Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

Could you ask for more? Stopped in Springfield on the way to Boston and ate dinner here, as it was close to the Hotel. The area looked sketchy, but don't let it scare you away. The food arrived quickly while we listened to music by Eric French. Made for a great stop.
