“A nice afternoon for our family.”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

It is sometimes hard to find fun and entertaining things for a family with varying ages (2-44) to do,but the Quadrangle accomplished just that.

We especially liked two parts of our trip.

The cute little Dr. Suess Sculpture garden was fun to play in and look at. They have many statues of characters from your favorite Dr. Suess books. What a great place to take a family picture.

The Museum of Springfield History was very enjoyable, nicely set up,and our favorite of the Museums. This museum had fun displays about different influences the city of springfield had on Dr. Suess, old fashioned cars (I think they mostly Rolls Royces), Indian (brand name) motorcycles, Smith and Wesson gun collection, and a display explaining the beginnings of Friendly's Resteraunt. The best part for us was the playroom that had a timeline of Hasbro games and when they were introduced and various interactive displays that had one thing or another to do with a specific game (like a big "Life" spinner where four people could play and each pick a number).

The Science Museum was cute and had nice exhibits of animals and on the ground floor even had some live animals.

The Museum of Fine Arts was just plain pretty and we enjoyed looking at the different paintings and in one room they had paintings and drawings using different techniques.

It is very nice that all of the museums are in one place and parking is close, and didn't cost anything. All it needs is some picnic tables in the Dr. Suess garden to enjoy a nice little family meal.

Excellent presentation and interpretation of the exhibits at this small museum. I was especially impressed with the children's exhibit regarding games.

“hard to find, but worth it”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

This musuem was hard to find, even with GPS.. we had to circle the block a few times.. but our efforts paid off. This was a very nice museum with a variety of nice exhibits including real live animals, african artifacts and dinosaur fossils. The real gem of this museum is that your ticket gets you admission to an art museum and a history museum for no additional cost. You just can't beat that. The icing on the cake is the absolutly wonderful courtyard filled with whimsical Dr. Suess statues. My only slight critism was that the musuems were a bit hard to manuver with a stroller.. there are ramps and elevators, but there are tucked out of the way and sometimes hard to find. If your going to be in the area, it is definatly worth the trip.
