“Golden Corral, New England”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

I was there this past Wednesday had the Premium Steak and Shrimp. It was excellent and the steak was done perfectly. Everything is fresh, and I will definitely go back there even thought it is over an hour drive from my home.

“Great spot if you're hungry”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

I was in the area and didn't really want to settle for fast food. I'd been to Golden Corral before ( a few times), and the food is more than acceptable. There's a wide variety of fresh ingredients at the salad bar, a steak grille where cooked-to-order meats are available (and quite tasty), and a wide variety of other food - chicken, pork, meatloaf. Seafood is about average - I think most of it is commercially prepared rather than fresh, but still OK. There are a number of ethnic foods of various sorts, a wide variety of vegetables, and an assortment of desserts. I'd estimate that this location has close to 70 feet of steam table to work with, which is a lot when you think about it.

Downsides - there is no room behind much of the counter for staff to refill the trays - they have to work in front of the customers. Desserts are self-serve, and the cakes and pies become unattractive after several customers have hacked off their portions. There is almost always a line at the register, no matter the time of day or how full the restaurant is. During peak hours, the place is crowded and there are long lines waiting to get in.

Upsides - the trays are constantly refilled with food. The staff are friendly and proud to make your stay a pleasant one. The food is primarily freshly prepared - the seafood seems to be the exception. The pricing is very reasonable - I spent only a few dollars more than I'd have spent for a burger and fries at Wendy's.

I'd rate Golden Corral above Average, but not quite Very Good. It's not my mom's home cooking, but it's "Pretty Good". It's not a destination restaurant, but if you're in the area and hungry, you really can't beat it.

“Buffet food prepared fresh from scratch”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

It seems many restaurants have improved their menu and food service since our econonic downturn to stay in business. We enjoyed the Golden Corral in Florida so much we decided to visit one closer to home. Springfield, MA is a 1.5 hour drive from Providence, RI. Although the food was good to excellent, we can't justify spending the time and gas to get there but we also went for the foliage.. Besides being friendly and courteous, the staff works very hard preparing fresh food made from scratch. We really enjoyed the fried chicken, fried fish, breads and fresh produce. See attached photos.

“Can't beat it for amount of food for the money”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Been to this location twice, both times on a Saturday - it's really crowded from about 5:30 until 7pm, before or after and you will have an easier time getting in and getting a full selection of food.
Salad bar is well stocked, bread area has been lacking - empty racks many times, but when they bring out a tray of fresh cornbread, grab some!
There can be long lines for the grilled to order steaks and seafood, but there are plenty of other choices. If a selection is out when you look, try back in 10 minutes and there's more.
Drinks - softdrinks or sweet tea - you pay at the entrance cash register and get your first glass, after that the waitress brings you refills, so say 'hi' when you first sit down and they'll take care of you - even though it's a buffet tip them a couple of bucks, cheapies!
Dessert bar has the infamous chocolate fountain, which they need to staff to keep the kids from going crazy. The place has a rule 'kids must be with adults', but it is not enforced.
You can definitely eat yourself into a coma at this place. Saw one very large gentleman get taken away on a stretcher!
