Took the Sea Otter Quest and Fortress of the Bear excursion. A pleasure from start to finish. Our naturalist was absolutely wonderful - a great learning experience. Boat was comfortable with good wildlife viewing from all areas inside, outside and above. Rafts of otters, humpbacks, sea lions, not to mention the time out on the water cruising areas not accessible by ship. Really liked how map was marked at end with location of sightings for us to photograph.

Our afternoon exploration of Sitka Sound was pretty much nonstop wildlife adventure. We saw several humpback whales, eagles, including one swimming to shore dragging its catch... explored an island with thousands of nesting sea birds, were able to photograph sea otters lazing in the sun, and followed a pod of orca's! for a while. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and the boat is setup well for this venue. Highly recommend!

Took this tour on reco from shore excursion clerk on our cruise on the msOBoosterdam, the tour had lots of other good reviews. They weren't lying, the crew was awesome, captain was former Coast Guard and and had vast knowledge of the waters and places too see. The seal popped out first, then we saw a raft (group) of otters, a humpback whale came out to play, we saw a bald eagle...and crew finally saw the eaglet, and spawning salmon. The tour was a blast and I highly recommend it if you're in sitka.

My 12 year old granddaughter and I walked 100 yards or so from our cruise ship to board this comfortable wildlife viewing boat. Sat inside upstairs while scanning the large windows for wildlife, then went outside once something spotted as there was a chilly wind blowing. In this 3 hour plus excursion of Sitka Sound the highlight for us was watching the cute otters frolicking and also lying back and chilling out in their natural habitat. So different from a zoo. Also loved visiting the island where there were many sea birds including the pretty Crested Puffins. Only seen once before in the Seattle Aquarium. On the way back we were dropped off in town, where we had to wait some time for the 8 mile bus trip back to our ship, so a bit of a hassle as we had other things planned.

Our three hour exploration of Sitka Sound went by so fast. We saw several humpback whales, explored an island with thousands of nesting sea birds, were able to photograph sea otters lazing in their kelp beds, and over all enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the sun and on the sea. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They even know some of the whales on sight and have given them names. This is definitely a don't-miss tour!
