You'll see the very Russian towers from most places in town. The exterior is distinctive and lets you know that the town was once Russian. Inside there are no pews. It's very open, and the icons on the walls are beautiful. Father Michael was there when we visited and treated us to a little talk about the history of the church, and a little about his history too. Worth seeing.

Fascinating visit to a rebuilt Russian Orthodox church and engaging presentation by Father Mike Boyle, the current priest who himself converted to the faith and is an amazing spokesman for what Russian Orthodoxy means now and meant to Alaska and tribal Alaskans in the early 1800s.

This is a must see! The small, simple cathedral is nonetheless lovely, and the Russian icons everywhere make this a truly magical (holy for believers) place!

Soft, superb male choir music fills the calm spaces in one''s spirit when you enter... the historical artifacts and current place of worship strike one on many levels.

Only a $5 donation to visit this place. The father was inside and took all the time in the world to answer questions and speak with us. Remarkable amount of items recovered from a sunken ship on display.
