“Expensive like most of Alaska but fine”

First, your choices in Sitka for hotels (or anything else) are fairly constrained, especially if you are in town pre or post cruise like many others at the same time. This hotel was fine for what I wanted - a night before leaving for an inside passage small boat cruise. Rooms were clean and big enough, good shower, coffee maker in room (might have returned them after previous comments). Free coffee downstairs in little gift shop area. Very friendly and helpful staff and airport shuttle. No breakfast. Nice deck and food service/bar operation. We just had beers on the deck and watched fishing boats come and go. Nice. Our room faced the street and the bar across the street - there was some noise early on in the evening but due to jet lag and travel, didn't have trouble getting a good night's sleep. Other room locations would definitely be quieter. You do pay plenty to stay here, compared to what the cost would get you in most places in the lower 48. But that's the way it is.....

We agree with other reviewers that the workers here are very friendly. We stayed here because we needed the guest laundry after being on an Inside Passage cruise for a week. Nice location by waterfront, small sunny park, old folks home with pretty garden. No breakfast in restaurant--went to nearby Victoria's. Our room was noisy, as others report--a few slamming doors, and the airport is nearby (although not many flights taking off from this small town), as are floatplanes (every day at 5:30 AM and throughout the day during our 2-night stay). White noise machine available at front desk, if you want it. Decor is dated, spartan, yet clean (needed to air the bleach smell out of the room upon arrival). We stayed here during a heat wave and it was hot in our 4th-floor room. Strange that they wouldn't use the hotel van to take us to the ferry landing!! Why not? Very expensive for what you get, but this is Alaska and all of our hotels were expensive!!!

This is a hotel without breakfast, sorry. You have to go somewhere else to have a breakfast there. When you choose a room don't take the one overlooking the street, it gets very very noisy during weekends. Staff is nice though. There is nothing more to write about this hotel.

We knew that Alaska was expensive, but even by this measure the Shee Atika comes up short in terms of value for money. Everything about the hotel is ordinary; decor, rooms and service - nothing wrong with them but not worth $200+.

When one adds air conditioning that doesn't work; wi-fi that worked sporadically, and then an advertised complimentary breakfast that didn't exist then it is really hard to see the merit of staying here.

Judging by the quality of B&Bs we have experienced elsewhere on our trip and other comments on Sitka accommodations generally B&Bs look to be a preferable option.

Arrived to find they had no record of our reservation and confirmation number made on-line over 6 months ago on the hotels website. Then I produced a copy of the confirmation receipt and the front desk staff was perplexed to say the least first said they were full, but then said they would find us a room which they did.

Then upon check out our receipt listed our name and someone else's address.

Hotel was marginal at best, but the dockside fish and chips were great!

Think we'll try Westmark next summer.

Camille Ferguson and her staff at the Totem Square Inn in Sitka will go out of their way to meet and surpass a guest's expectations. It is a comfortable great place to stay and central to everything. A short walk will get you to all the historical sites in town.

Room Tip: We had a room at the end of the upper hall far from the bar. This may have contributed to a very qu...

I stayed here because of a convention in town and the Westmark was booked. The staff was friendly but aside from a nice restaurant on location that's about the only nice comment I can make. The rooms were cramped, the beds uncomfortable and worst of all were the devices that closed the doors in the hallway. Bang, bang, bang they went late at night and early morning. To make matters worse my room was just across the street from a bar.
