“As a local this is the place to consistently eat good food!”

Strong committment to locally sourced salmon and other fish. Like the casual atmosphere but really appreciate the consistent quality of the food served at the Larkspur! Check out the Sunday brunch if you want to hear local musicians enjoying an acoustic jam session.

“"Hidden" Local spot...known by everyone”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

Hidden in a little white house at the end of the road and around the corner. Heard this was THE place for great salmon chowder. Lunch starts at 11:30 and not a minute before...coffee and breakfast until then. Huge cup of chowder, glad I didn't order a bowl of it as it would have been more than I could have eaten. Nice bread with it. Saw a salmon cobb sandwich and would have had that had we returned. Very small and simple interior...but server big on service and freshly made food big on flavor.

“Not as good as people say”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Had the chowder that people rave about. You could stand a spoon up in it it was so thick. Not really that tasty and the scallions on top really took away from the taste. The sandwich was ok but ordinary. The beer was the best part of the meal. Not a place I would go to again.

“Gotta try the salmon chowdah!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

We stopped in here for lunch looking for something with a local flavor. On a cool, wet day, the salmon chowder really hit the spot -- very rich, white soup, served with rosemary foccacia. The restaurant is small, near the waterfront, just off the main street. A little hidden, but worth looking for!

“the local's favorite brunch spot on Sundays”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

The tomato soup I had was nothing special in taste, but still quite alright, although it could have been a little more (ordered a bowl, but it was only about half full). It came with two slices of pita bread, one of which either had a little too much flour on the bottom or was a bit damp, either way I did enjoy the top half of it quite a lot, as it had olives in it (like they do in Greece). They feature a wide variety of teas, most of which nobody has ever heard of. It was interesting to try the carrot and curry tea, although - as they said - one should think of it more as a soup or broth than as a tea.

I was also there for brunch on a Sunday morning. Make sure you get in early, as the place gets quite packed towards noon and you might have to wait a fair bit, especially when in a group. The panini were quite nice (they include pesto, onions and other things while one gets to select the cheese and meat that goes on it) and so was the cocoa.

Nothing to complain about regarding service, their staff is always nice and very friendly and they are by no means slow, although for the Sunday brunch they were a little slower than usual in checking on you and refilling drinks (but only once all the tables were taken and people waiting in line as well, so they were very busy).

The place certainly is a spot for the locals and every now and then you get somebody with his guitar or other instrument who just starts playing out of the blue. The place does certainly have atmosphere, despite the fact that only some places allow you to see the water, while most of them only feature the view of the surrounding port buildings.
