Reviewed April 9, 2014

stayed here a few weeks ago, the owners (John and Donna) are super nice, and the hot tub and garden area is beautiful...sat back on the deck on a nice spring day, and had some drinks at the outside bar which John recently constructed...again, two thumbs way up!

Woodruff House was easy to find once in Luray, and Donna was very accommodating. She gave us historical background on the house & Luray, and she very kindly purchased turkey sausage for breakfast as my boyfriend does not eat pork. This gesture was greatly appreciated, and the food was excellent! There were also "treats" in the dining room for guest access -- the chocolate chip cookies were yummy. The only change I'd make upon visiting again would be booking a different room--we stayed in Dorothy's Loft as it was the only one available. There's no shower in this room, so you must use the bathroom off the kitchen area. The toilet is under a sharply raked ceiling with a makeshift door, so this was a little hard to use due to our height. Donna told us of renovation plans for this room, which would be a good idea. Overall, this was a good experience and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Preview the individual rooms well ahead of time because they're very different.

We went here for our anniversary and (I believe the innkeepers name is) Donna was a delight! We stayed in the leisure room and it was nice especially for the money. Breakfast was really great as well.

The best stay in our first trip to the states. When we arrived at the woodruff house, we were warmly greeted by Donna, who introduced the house to us and was so hospitable. She bakes awesome cookies and cakes and made sure that we are greeted with it when we get back each day. The hot tub in the room was a bonus as well! Donna's breakfast is also awesome! Not only does she ensure that we are fully fed, she makes an effort to provide a different spread of breakfast for each guest - Ain't that thoughtful!

We needed a quick relaxing getaway and woodruff house provided the best atmosphere. They had excellent accommodations, suggestions for place to go out and visit, and a superb breakfast.
We were made to feel right at home when we checked in. The house was very clean and organized. They provided free Wi-Fi and info books with local restaurants and sites.
The breakfast was so delicious! My boyfriend and I enjoyed fresh cut fruit, endless hot coffee, eggs cooked to order, bacon, home fried potatoes (the best I have ever had), and waffles with a strawberry compote.

After a long drive down to Luray, the Woodruff House was a perfect place to rest and relax to start the next day fresh. The house is beautiful, with nice antiques throughout and well maintained.
The rooftop suite was a perfect mix of comfort and rustic charm. The exposed wood of the roof, the neat "outhouse" for the bathroom, nice glass shower right under the skylights for an open air feel and a nice size 2 person jacuzzi tub...
The room had thoughtful conveniences, like a small coffee pot, mini-fridge, wine glasses and a cork screw, flat screen TV with cable. The bed was very comfortable too. Everything was nice and clean. I could not have been happier with the room.
I had expected to arrive late, and had mentioned to Donna that I wanted to soak in the hot tub, so it was already uncovered and ready when we got there. Perfect after a long drive and they even had plastic wine glasses for the less graceful types like me that would knock over the wine in the hot tub.
Donna could not have been nicer and breakfast was excellent! She warns you to come with an empty stomach, and she doesn't let folks leave her table still hungry. She also had great tips about the area. Luray Caverns was only a couple of minutes away, which was perfect to start the day and beat the lines that I read about on many reviews.
Donna and Jon are excellent hosts and I would recommend this B&B to anyone. I will DEFINITELY be returning in the future.

Room Tip: The rooftop suite was very spacious and I really liked the skylights over the glass shower, gave it...

We had a really wonderful stay at this B&B a few weeks ago. All the rooms are really quaint with their own special character. We stayed in the loft suite and were delighted with the cosy feel for what is a sizable room. We enjoyed the use of the jacuzzi and loved all the antiques. The bed was comfy and the room clean. Most of all, we were made to feel extremely welcome by Donna, who made us an incredible breakfast every morning. She really made us feel at home. We would highly recommend staying at Woodruff House B&B.
